Hi, I'm trying to decide what to purchase for my first mechanical keyboard. This is what I need in order of importance. Can you fine forum-goers help me?
Around $100
Shipping from the US
Tenkeyless
No Windows Key
NKRO
I was initially looking at the i-rocks kr-6230, but it's discontinued. I really liked the large control button and lack of a windows key, and the switches it uses (I can't recall which) lots of people said were good for gaming. I play RTS' so in any given game I'll use the control button like 500 times.
The Customizer 101 fulfills many of my requirements, but lots of people say they aren't the best for gaming due to the amount of force necessary to actuate (is that the word? :D) the key.
Thank you for your help!

True, you should get one anyway (sometime) because the typing feeling is superior. (Highly subjective)
I think you'll have to pay a little more than $100 for a tenkeyless though.

The only US vendor that is well known is EK(elitekeyboards.com) and they are currently out of any keyboards in that price range. They will be getting some leopold tenkeyless in the near future(don't quote me) as for the price it may be cheaper than the filco's they use to sell.
I suggest checking the classifieds to see if anyone is willing to part with thier tenkeyless boards for the low if you are gunhole on not purchasing from outside the US. It really isn't that bad.
Good luck!

Is the "No Windows key" a requirement? That'd be tough to find new. Personally, I like assigning hotkeys with the Windows key as a modifier.
Also, sorry kidchunks, it's "gung ho", not "gunhole". Though I like your spelling better.

Much appreciated! :biggrin1:

The form factor also classifies as a "Space Waster" - seriously, a Model M / Customizer is BIG (only topped by 122-key aircraft carriers).

Hey now, I call my customizer the Nimitz. It's totally the size of an aircraft carrier. The 122 key terminal keyboards are more like the Enterprise.
