If it has usb nkro, why did they bother including the usb to ps2 adapter ??

What kind of computer in this day and age does not have usb. If usb can already do nkro then why use ps2 at all ?

Like fsbzz said i'm pretty content with my ducky dk-9008 pbt lasered cherry mx browns. It does nkro via usb to ps2 adapter so thats fine with me.

It's just gonna be too much hassle reselling my keyboard, but worse still is waiting 4-6 weeks if ordering from Walrus. I waited ages before, and i'm not gonna do that **** again.

But if pchome had stock, it could be tempting.

Anyway from my understanding this limited edition keyboard comes with mixed cherry mx switches.

Spacebar, all keys, except function keys all have different switches.

E.g. the cherry mx brown version has clears for the function keys. Spacebar is probably a clear as well i reckon.

PS: i wonder if they fixed underneath the keyboard where you fit the cables. It's kinda tight on the dk 9008; but on the Leopold it's supposedly a better fit.

Ooh. If that's true, that sounds like it'd be nice to type on.

Well i don't particularly like these mixed switch boards like the previous ducky models which had 3 switches left middle and right side.

But the only mixes for this tiger keyboard are function row, everything else and spacebar. So it's gonna be impractically weird when typing.

PS: the ducky already has aluminium plate mounting, so what purpose does an extra thick pcb serve ?

Funny how all these n-key over USB boards turn up after hasu published his nkey over USB research here. Coincidence?

Microsoft Sidewinder X4 has been out over a year.

It's not rocket science.

Sure, but no ready-out-of-the-box solution to leech. Otherwise Taiwanese clones would have been around for over a year too.
I am just being paranoid when it comes to schematics being released and Taiwanese products appearing shortly after... I am hanging out too much with those Koreans.

Dipswitch 4. The greatest keyboard technology invented since the buckling spring. Reserved for the leetest of the leet. Only those lucky enough to own a Realforce 87U will get to experience it's power with the inevitable future firmware update. The most awesome...

...hey wait. My 86U has a Dipswitch 4 too!

Someone needs to snag one and test these NKRO claims. :tinfoil3: It would be great to not need the PS/2 port anymore.

Also, do they only come with un-filled legends?
Title: Ducky limited Edition Tiger. NKRO over USB?

What do you mean unfilled ?

From the pictures and remarks, it's engraved without fillings.

Right, that's what I'm saying. I would want one with filled in legends, not one win unfilled legends.

Hey, any idea why F9, F10 and F11 have LED windows on them? Some sort of secondary function?

F9 press with FN disables the windows key so you don't accidentally press it especially when in a game.

f10 and f11 probably swap keys for macs i believe.

Dukcy 9000 series G2
more info about this keyboard i got from KBC

DK9008G2
the G means Generation.
This means, it is the 2nd Generation of 9008
The First Generation and 2nd generation, have exactly the same exterior design, except they used engraved key cap, and tiger words printed on the kb.
But the controller of the keyboard are brand new, and different then generation 1 of 9008
This keyboard will work NKRO over USB.
The PS/2 adapter is included, in case some1 choose to use PS/2 over USB.
Generation 2 9008, got the brand new and different PCB then the first generation.
The PCB used FR-4 material, the solidness, higher heat resistance, better price as well, the overall PCB is way better compare to the first generation 9008.
Circuit (Layout), the use of a double-sided circuit technique (dual layer PCB), which in FR-4 PCB is very common.
It use SMT Diode, it is better then the one that used in first generation 9008, which is DIP Diode.
Generally, this keyboard will cost a little bit more.

i try my best to translate. lol. can't 100% sure it is right.

not trying to be a douche bag, but... this is more precise (translated word by word and tried to retain the "atmosphere")... some typos and punctuations are purposely left unchanged in honor of the author, bullock (great name)@ KBC

G is the abbreviation of generation, so, G2 means second generation!!
The second generation looks identical to the first generation externally, but, their interiors are different!!
First of all, the NKRO technology is implemented into the USB interface and the PS/2 interface is still preserved.
Secondly, the important PCB is revised. FR-4 is used. The hardness, heat resistance, and price is a few times higher compare to the previous PCB,
Dual-sided PCB, which is commonly found in dual-layered FR-4 PCB, is used.
SMT diodes are used and their defect rate is lower compare to the previous DIP diodes,
In order to reduce the defect rate, Ducky has to invest more costs, but, I believe that this is what manufacturers have to do in favor of the consumers!!!!
The looks of the packaging is more grandeur!!!
Wait and behold….Dukcy 9000 series G2

If I am not mistaken, those features are not mentioned in their new 80% keyboards (it was only mentioned that Ducky is working on their 80% after 1087 is discontinued)

I might be wrong, since I wander in KBC and the news about the Tiger keyboard came out from a Singaporean forum (not surprised since they have done so many MO on Ducky keyboards), so... they Singaporeans might be more updated...

TBH I don't think that most of the people here care about how good the internals of a keyboard are, they just don't want problems like what happened to the iOne Scorpius M10. A decently priced reliable keyboard is what they want.

BTW, there is no evidence saying that Leopold isn't using FR-4 PCBs, SMT diodes etc...

I completely agree.  I feel that the greatest force behind the resurgence of mechaical keybaords into the market has been the need for a keyboard to function as it should function. Don't get me wrong, this is pretty cool, but the only way anyone is going to see that lovely pcb is if you take your kb apart for them, or do some nifty clear-case mod...

Ok, so I got news that Ducky will be releasing a limited edition board for the year of the tiger, and it will deviate from the DK-9008 in the following areas:

    * The Function keys of the keyboard will use a special switch type
o For the brown DK-9108, the function keys will have Cherry MX Clears under them.
o For the blues, they will have greens.
o For the blacks, they will have greys.
    * The keyboard will have a superior quality PCB that's made of (the engineering term slipped my mind), but basically the keyboard PCB will have much more layers than the conventional DK-9008.
    * The keycaps will be black-on-black PBT.

Pricing wise it will be about S$225. Basically the same as the current PBT + wrist rest bundle, but without the wrist rest for this one.

Not so sure what will be used for spacebar hm :x

I am curious how this will affect the standard boards in their line.  Does anyone believe that this special edition is a kick-off to a design/feature refresh of their other boards?  I assume if there were insight on this that someone would have brought it up already, but the timing of this announcement with the release of the FC500R seems more than a coincidence.

Does anyone know why F9, F10 and F11 have LED windows? Have past special editions had these?

F10 swap Ctrl/Capslock location
F11 swap Alt / Windows Key location

Oh, ok. Interesting features. Are they tap-on tap-off like the function locks, or do you have to hold down the key? Some games use those function keys and remapping the keyboard layout every time you do a quicksave could be annoying.:boink:

@mr perfect

for F9, F10, F11

to engage them e.g. disable windows,

you need to hold down the function key as you press f9

Same method applied for f1-f7 and f9-f11

So you don't have anything to worry about.

to enable/disable the windows e.g. fn + f9 yeah.  have to hold down fn and then press f9.

same applies to the others.

exception being top right 4 media keys. Don't need to use the Fn for that.

Eh, top row function keys no clears ??

Well wouldn't matter to me anyway. Clears for spacebar sounds fun.

Brown spacebar which i've tried so far works fine. I take it the clear spacebar is slightly more stiffer ?

Anyway my doggy, lizard and sheep agree with your bear that the ducky is nice :}

It's just gonna be too much hassle reselling my keyboard, but worse still is waiting 4-6 weeks if ordering from Walrus. I waited ages before, and i'm not gonna do that **** again.

I have ready stock that's good to be posted out immediately ;)

Very limited though, each of us can only order up to a certain quantity!

I may be interested (seeing there is no ridiculous wait time involved). Hopefully there is a friend of ducky discount for previous buyer such as myself :/

probably the key cap? packaging, inside pcb maybe? mix switch?
how i wish i got my digital scale with me at Singapore
i'm pretty sure that this keyboard itself is heavier then regular ducky 9008.

and reporting, this kb is not working well with MAC.
contacted Walrus to try it again on his MAC, he says, it doesn't work very well too.

I hope that the increased quality will be moved onto their normal product range too. Some people might hope that the USB NKRO won't get moved onto their other keyboards though because of the compatibility with OS X.

Could you explain the difficulty? Is it not picking up certain keys? Could that be elevated with the use of third party apps?
