Someone convince me that it is reasonable to buy two keyboards in a week? First Model M is on its way, a first Cherry seems necessary no?
(Worked here in the States.)
-
I'm of the opinion that buy them when you find them. None of these pesky "buy one a week" or some such.
Now, you can only do this up to your allotted budget, though. Then it's back to the schedule, assuming your budget is on a schedule.

In for 1
always wanted to try a mechanical keyboard but could never find a justifiable price for a first keyboard.
Thanks OP!

No problem. I did return the BW when I first got it, not because I didn't like it, but I ended up getting a Filco Brown plus 2 Noppoo Choc Minis in the next month.
Enjoy the BW, I do miss the macro keys. It was pretty awesome.

cheap cheap cheap

Gosh I wish they would sell me less of it for the same price.
-
as in tenkeyless? just break the right side yourself ;P

Hmm.. It just occurred to me that I could buy this, and replace the crappy Filco keys with the POM ones from the Razer. Font is a little funny, but by all accounts the keys are much nicer. Not that much more than the $50 or so the Ducky keys are going for, and I get a spare board full of blue switches.
Haven't been able to find a picture of anyone taking off any of the longer keys though..
UPDATE:
Ehh nevermind, looks like the code is dead.

I've been lurking here, waiting for a good deal to pop up. I received the BlackWidow yesterday, and I am loving it. The keys have a nice light, yet tactile feel to them. While there is an auditory click with each keypress, it is not too loud. I should be able to take this into work as I had planned.
I'm testing this on my desktop at home where I temporarily swapped out my Model M, and surprisingly I don't miss it too much.

My gambling habit is now supporting my newly acquired keyboard taste. Sooooo.. until next win. :(

Just don't lose your shirt!

I picked one up... I do like the keyboard and the ability to map keys and record macros is really nice; I do hate the glossy finish.
-
Glad the deal worked out for you guys. agree on the glossy finish...

Cool. Welcome to Geekhack!
Thanks, I'll probably be posting more often, but I hope to resist the urge to spend more money on keyboards.

i definately returned mine =/. i do like the blue switches, and it being my first mechanical keyboard. i think i will stick with blue, i love the noise it makes. however, the keyboard itself was not very good imo

I agree with that. I don't really like the build quality of the black widow.
