Post by: hfcobra on Sun, 23 January 2011, 00:06:06
So who is planning on getting one when EK gets them in stock anyways?  I'm bored and getting a bit impatient so i thought that i would make this post to see who else is waiting with me!   :D

I'm getting one but not from EK. Tired of waiting, they emailed me and told me that they will only start selling the keyboards at the end of February with full lines of Leopold keyboards.. so I guess both tenkeyless and full keys.

However, I asked my friend from Japan to buy one Archiss (apparently, it's the same as Leopold) and shipping it to me. Should be getting it by this week if not next week. :)

Oh my blues Filco works. It's just a pain to remember the key combinations (ctrl, option, command) and where they're located, I'm not a competent touch typist yet. The one thing I do like though is that they've printed all the alt symbols on the Tactile Pro keys so I know where stuff is that I would spend a minute or two guessing if I was using a Filco.

what did you end up getting?   If i had more money to spend i would try a FILCO and a Leopold with the same switches side by side to make a good comparison.  the hassle of selling one is annoying though so i dont think i will be going down that road   :P

Pretty much. As I mentioned, I'd love a clicky switch version of the Apple wireless. That size footprint, bluetooth, just with cherry blues and a good solid chassis/enclosure.

I like the layout of the Apple wireless keyboard as it just makes sense when using OS X, but I can't use it for any extended period of time as it causes my CT to flare up. Numb fingers, shooting wrist pain (particularly my left). Same with any chiclet keyboard actually. I'd have to plug in my Tactile Pro or Filco if I planned on doing any extended typing periods on a laptop.

I was trying to decide between the ordering a Noppoo Choc Mini or waiting it out for the Leopold, but I ended up picking up a modified Filco Zero Tenkeyless in the classifieds for a much lower price. I'm liking it quite a bit, but we'll see if I can restrain myself when the Leopold comes out...

Leopold keyboards will be available in the end of February.
US & Canadian customers will receive a 1 year warranty. No price has
been set, but we do plan to offer a full line of keyboards to replace
the FILCO line, tenkeyless and full.

Therefore, I am very sure that there will be full key and tenkeyless.

Already have one Archiss tenkeyless.  I did buy a case for it from EK though.

The Choc minis are nice if you don't need to use them on a Mac.  As I've mentioned before, the brown Cherry Choc mini I had briefly was the best-feeling brown Cherry 'board I have ever typed on.  (and I've had PLENTY)

I call it smart, probably found jebus and doesn't need to buy any other board!

I have a "converted" coworker who will be jumping on a leopold once they become available. I'm still debating if I want to get one myself.

You got, technically, a rubber dome with a plunger and capacitive sensing.

That's putting it in very simple terms unworthy of the magical Topre switch.

I'm planning to get a full size Leopold w/browns from EK, assuming the pricing is good.  I can wait until the end of Feb, especially since I have a Unicomp SpaceSaver on the way that I can try out in the mean time.

I am waiting to see what they offer.  I want either a tenkeyless "Otaku" brown/blue, or a tenkeyless white.  I have yet to see a Leopold in white, so if they are not available, I may track down a Ducky.

i'll probably get a brownie from ek as long as the price is competitive enough - say, no more than a hundred twenty for it
tenso fee is already high enough as it is and although jgoods is cheaper at five percent i don't want to - god forbid - deal w/ returns, rma, lost in translation, etc

I read somewhere in the forum that EK is (perhaps?) planning to sell some 105 Leopold keyboards eventually. Is there any chance of that actually happening or is that just high hopes on my part? I'd love to try out some cherry brown, or perhaps blue, but i don't feel like switching to a qwerty layout frankly. And I wasn't able to find something similar in french stores so far.

EDIT:  which would you go for, chimborazo?    or would you just get either one?

EDIT2: for that matter, ill ask that question to everyone who reads this, filco, leopold, or you dont really care between the two so long as you can have one   :P

According to sixty's post here (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=13258), the branding/logo is supposedly optional.

If you guys have read my post in page #2. EK confirmed with me that they will be selling both tenkeyless and full. So, it's no assumption or speculation anymore that they will be stocking them both.

ripsterkeyboards.com - exclusive Filco USA distributor.

I'm speculating it will look something like this.  ISO 105 key though I doubt.  And Filco USA will happen someday.

if it looks like that without all the korean on it i definitely want
provided the price is right sub 150 please and leopold on the kb is a sticker and not hard attached

just signed up to say I'm currently planning on getting a leopold.

got a blackwidow for christmas, knowing very little about mechanical keyboards but wanting to try it out, and I've managed to mess it up quite a bit already. plus well, I started looking around and really wanted to order a filco, but I can't find a way to get one to the US. rather than go crazy hunting I figure I'm gonna wait and be among the first in line for a leopold with blue switches... possibly tenkeyless, undecided on that as of now.

nice to meet you all

Get a choco mini with brown switches it costed me 109 total with obook and taobao, small form factor, NKRO over USB.

You can get it cheaper maybe if you used a different agent and more expensive if you do DHL or EMS delivery.

NOPPOO!

A Noppoo keyboard from taobao is 118 CAD, shipped. Although I wouldn't mind a fuller layout, the price similarity to that projected for EK's newest Cherry KB's is making me consider just ordering one early and being done with it.
