Title: Archiss key problem
Post by: laserlight on Fri, 28 January 2011, 12:11:53
Okay, so I couldn't wait for a Leopold from EK and went for a Archiss Tenkeyless AS-KB87T (http://en.item.rakuten.com/archisite/aa0297000/).

Trouble is, the backspace, \ and enter keys don't seem to be working correctly in that they result in some other weird characters/character sequences. Pretty much all other keys work fine. The board is free of dirt (my newbie skills were sufficient to check for that under the key caps, heh).

I tested with Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux 10.04. Any ideas on what could be the problem, and how to fix it?

Thanks. It looks like the characters sent are rather inconsistent. With backspace, I got a collection of F3, F7, backspace, tab, T, Y, [, ], capslock, numpad 4, numpad 5, numpad 6, left shift and left windows key; yet I also got F3, tab, T, Y, ], capslock, K (sometimes) and left windows key.

For \ I got ], \, A, S, D, F, J, K, L, ;, right shift, numpad 1, numpad 2, numpad 3, numpad enter, right windows key; also A, S, D, F, J, K, right shift and right windows key.

For enter I got ], Z, X, C, V, M, ,, right control. I also observed that F9, F10, F11 and F12 also have similiar problems.

Thought I might give an update:

I sent the keyboard back after a short discussion with Archiss via email (in English, phew). They "checked it and saw defective piece". Today, I received the replacement in the mail, and it works just fine :)

That said, with all the shipping back and forth, that was one expensive keyboard :o
