Hello,
First time poster, long time lurker. I am about to step up and make my first mechanical keyboard purchase. My main criteria/usage are:
- #1 use: writing essays/reports
- #2 use: Gaming, mainly MMO's, LOL, RPGS
- No numpad. I never, ever use the damn thing, its a waste of space
- Its going on a keyboard Tray, so space is good.
- I have the starting signs of carpal tunnel, so easy to push keys
- Easy to disable windows key, or no windows key at all (on left side).
- Large ALT and CTRL buttons on the left side, I macro a lot with them (about the size of the CTRL on the standard mac keyboard... hate tiny keys when trying to find them with my pinky while also hitting other buttons at the same time =P).
- Price close to or below 200, but more is fine if its an awesome board.
So, that list is pretty specific, but itemized in a top to bottom priority list. The keyboards I am currently looking at are:
Filco FKNB87M/EB Majestouch Tenkeyless Keyboard
Deck keyboards (compact and non compact version)
Razer Black Widow Ultimate (wish i could saw off the stupid numpad)
In summary. Looking for a great gaming board that is compact, with less intense keys (blue, brown cherries I guess).
Thanks!

I would add the Noppo Choc Mini and the Realforce 86U and the HHKB to your list. They don't match all your criteria but are close.

Ah, well closest seller of tenkeyless boards would be EK. Although they are currently out of filcos. But they are receiving some leopolds (tenkeyless and full) which will hold up to your requirements.
If you're comfortable with ordering from countries over seas, then I suggest checking out the armygroup thread. Last place I know that sells the FKNB87M/EB at a decent price.

The choc mini seems to be the craze atm.

The choc mini certainly looks pretty good. Lots to think about. Thanks! And thanks for the shipping suggestions.
