On the pricey side and seller with 0 feedback, though.

Interesting. At least he's trying...
-
30 bucks shipping...
-
Fom the description on eBay it seems like these are Cherry MX Black. Odd choice if you're trying to do a little import business.
UPDATE: Yup, heard back from the seller, Cherry Blacks.
-
Beautiful board. Would be the ultimate with a blue conversion.
-
For that price, you can order the model with blues from China.
-
way too much.
-
No poo + black switches = epic constipation

And save yourself $40~

Same seller is also selling the Noppoos with blues and browns now, FYI.

Hello geekhack!! (firstpost)
I've been a lurker for...oh, 2.5 months now? Ever since the Filcos went out of stock! I've been looking to get the noppoo for the last week, and then I found this guy yesterday.
I've been in constant email communication with him since yesterday. He seems like a very reasonable guy. I even showed him this thread and he had told me (what I already knew, I have family living in Hong Kong) that prices and post are more expensive in Hong Kong than mainland China.
Anywho, I asked the guy to lower his prices...and he DID! He's dropped the Blue and Black board to 89, and the Brown stays at 99. He told me this is just enough for him to make his money back and then make a bit of a profit. He's got the lower price for just this first run, so he can build up his positive reviews.
It seems to me this guy is legit. He even dropped the prices of 2 of the boards when he saw the power that is geekhack. Hopefully you guys who are looking to get a Choc Mini grab it from this guy instead! An extra $10 bucks for some people, the same price for most sounds fair, right? :p Plus it's eBay, so if anything goes wrong, their gestapo will go looking for him.
-
Welcome to GeekHack! Good job asking him to lower his prices! I wish more people around here would do that, instead of complaining about them all the time!

I was really hoping you'd be the one to comment on my first post :p
I thought it wouldn't hurt. From the first few emails we sent back and forth he seemed like a legitimate guy. He loves the keyboard and noticed it's not sold international. Wants to bring it to the world. Sounds like the geekhack kinda guy, if I'm not mistaken haha.
Anywho, I'll be picking either the blue or brown up this sat once I get paid!
-
你好 and Welcome.
....noticed it's not sold international. Wants to bring it to the world....
So this seller thinks the whole World is confined within the US of A ?
Me thinks seller is testing the waters of the retail market for sharks and piranhas, to see if there's worthwhile profit. Basically, seller is a less complicated Purchase Agent, Mr Lau. I'm not condoning the sellers intentions, it can only be good if keyboards are becoming readily available without the necessity to navigate the maze to purchase.

Thank you!
I thought his shipping was 'international' not only US. My apologies.
Either way, he seems like he can be trusted. Whether testing the waters or just trying to make an extra buck, if he does a good job I don't mind!
-
So is there somewhere we can buy them for $40 cheaper or not?
-
Thanks .XL for getting the seller to lower his price! I've been thinking about buying a Noppoo with Cherry MX Blues for a while now, and thanks to being able to use eBay instead of a buying agent and Taobao, I finally took the plunge!
-

Taobao via Obook.
-

...you mean it's not??
-
Taobao via Obook.
I was under the impression that using Obook to purchase a Noppoo Choc Mini from Taobao could actually total more than the price of this eBay seller ($114 after shipping), depending on what type of shipping you could use (I saw price ranges varying from $109-120something).
However, speakeasy mentioned another purchasing agent that you could use for a cheaper price in this post (http://geekhack.org/showpost.php?p=285416&postcount=262).
-
Obook quoted $115 for Browns and $95 for Blues shipped from China to Chicago (these are prices including shipping). I've heard cheaper, but I haven't seen it much higher than these prices shipped via China Post/Airmail. If you're going EMS or DHL, expect to pay about $20 more for either option.
Edit: I would say that if the ebay seller is shipping via DHL or EMS, you got yourself a good deal here.

I'm not sure what shipping method he uses, but with his turnaround time included, shipping is estimated at 2 weeks. So not bad! Not the 16 hour DHL delivery sixty received maybe a month ago, but 2 weeks isn't bad vs. the average 3-4 weeks at the least I've seen obook taking (via airmail).
-
...you mean it's not??
Nope, the whole World is situated in a little fishing village called Shanghai.
Whether testing the waters or just trying to make an extra buck, if he does a good job I don't mind!
I'm all for people making an honest profit, after all, I am Capitalist Monkey.

Looks very similar to the inside of the UK House of Parliament, a bunch of Monkeys to which I sever all ties.
-
I wouldn't ever pay as much as that guy's charging for a Cherry MX Black keyboard. IBM Model M's and good rubber domes feel so much nicer and require a lot less force.

Sounds like your standard China Post/Airmail then, which you can get through Obook for significantly cheaper. ($115 Browns / $95 Blues versus $130 / $120 respectively)
-
I asked the seller about shipping outside the US and there seems to be no problem.
For example shipping to Poland is $35.
However, $124 shipped seems a bit much. I have to check Obook too.
-
He told me $28 to Spain...Not too bad.
But I think Iīll save for an ISO keyboard....a filco....a topre 88...
Thinking about it :)
-
Damn you guys...I was waiting for my paycheck to go through tonight so I could buy one of these...but they SOLD OUT! :(
-
SOLD OUT! :(
your paycheck is safe... for now
-
I saw they were going fast this morning. I almost pulled the trigger, but decided they're not that different from my minitouch's, although the nkey might be nice I have n52tes for that function. I don't think a blue cherry board will ever be better than blue alps.
The 0 feedback from another country also scares me. I've bought from 0 feedback buyers before and had to wait a month for my paypal payment to clear, even though the guy was perfectly honorable and ultimately did send me the item.
-
your paycheck is safe... for now
Not so much...my second option was a Realforce 86ub...
Though I got my friend to contact his family in Taiwan so hey can send us some Filco/leopold/ducky tenkeyless. The choc mini is still the coolest one though :(
-
nooo i missed it!
-
i saw 9 left for each. luckily i bought 2 :)
-

Up until getting this Ducky I would have said that all day long,
but, I have been playing around with the 2Shot caps and it has made them feel some what different.
Wish I had done the swap with my Filco, unless there is something different between the two that I have not worked out as yet.
I do like the green switched space bar more.

Itīs on ebay again. Still 0 votes...

Just figured I'd post an update about this seller. I bought a Noppoo Choc Mini from the seller on 2/9 and sent payment on the same day. According to my tracking info via USPS, foreign acceptance of the package in Hong Kong was on 2/15 and it arrived and was processed in Tampa, FL (which is about a hour away from me) this morning, so I should be receiving it tomorrow.
Also would like to note that the seller speaks English well and was very good with communicating during the process of receiving the payment and shipping the keyboard.
So long story short, the shipping method is much faster than the description in the eBay listing.

That's good to hear! I had an email correspondence with him when they sold out, he's definitely a good, honest guy. Can't wait for him to post the poopoos again so I can snag one ;)

When you track your package through USPS, it usually tells you which type of shipping was used. Can you check to see the type? (I.e. Foreign Post, EMS, etc.) I'm under the assumption now that he probably uses EMS instead of China Post.

He's in Hong Kong, so there's a good chance he used DHL or UPS.
-
Scratch that on the expected delivery tomorrow, my girlfriend just texted me to let me know that it was delivered this morning!
On the USPS tracking it lists the class as "Express Mail International."
edit:
He used "Hong Kong Speedpost", whose website (http://www.hongkongpost.com/speedpost/eng/index.htm) has an EMS image on it. So that combined with the fast shipping time leads me to believe it was EMS.
-
Yup, that's definitely EMS (Express Mail Service). As I mentioned earlier, ordering through Taobao/Obook, with EMS delivery service, Noppos with Browns would be around $130-140 and Blues around $115-$125.
Conclusion -- For virtually the same price (possibly cheaper), you get better communication (from the testimonials in this thread), less work for the buyer (just click ebay link and buy versus emailing Taobao, etc.), and a more secured transaction through eBay. Only reason to go with Taobao at this point is, if the user is out of stock and if you prefer cheaper shipping and don't mind waiting for an additional 2-3 weeks.
Let's hope this guy gets some more Noppoos, so the rest of the community can jump on this without fear of going through independent Taobao agents.
-
One last thing I'd like to throw out there, is that the last message I received from the seller this morning was "Please let me know if you have any other keyboard if you interest and leave the comment to me if you have any at anytime." Not the greatest English in that message, but it seems like this guy is willing to make more keyboards available if there is an interest!
-
KBC 40 with Cherry Reds, np.
-
I am more interested in the newly listed PLU ML-87, although the "ML" in the product name may be misleading as it is stated they have MX ckicky/Blues switches, then again the pic shows the arrow keys have all MX Blacks. I am totally confused.
-
They come with the mainstream Cherry switches. You can get them in Blues, Blacks and/or Browns. The box has a checkbox marked with Reds also, but I don't think that option is available (yet?).

I am in contact with the seller about more boards. He had asked me to assist him on the US end with setting up orders. Let me know what kind of keyboards you guys are interested in. PM me, or email (kdemet36@gmail.com; preferable, and include your name on here) with what keyboards you'd like to see. I'll do what I can to get a price quote for you and ask him to get them up on eBay.

Get him to sign up on this forum and create a vendor sub-forum!

I already asked him, he didn't seem too interested. Asked me to take care of the communications part for him.

I sent him a message on ebay, but you should ask if he is going to restock the Noppoo Choc Mini with Cherry MX Browns. =]

Already emailed him :) Hoping to hear back soon and when I do I'll let you guys know.

Hey guys,
Unfortunately the Choc Mini browns and blues are out of stock across Hong Kong. They will be available at the soonest next weekend, but most likely 2 weeks from now. If you would like to wait for a Brown of Blue Choc Mini please let me know, I will inform the seller. If you would prefer another keyboard I can let him know now and we can arrange a paypal payment and shipping.
Again, my email address is kdemet36@gmail.com. I will forward all emails to the seller.
Thanks!
-
I also emailed the seller 2 days ago and he also told me that the Cherry Blue and Brown versions should be available in 2 weeks. I told him I would be interested in 2 of the Cherry Blues.
I have never used a keyboard with Cherry switches before (just IBM Model Ms). I just use my keyboard for typing (no games) but my sons use them for typing and gaming. Would Cherry Blues be the best choice and does the Cherry blues feel similiar to the way an IBM Model M feels?

New price...99$ :(

Seller got smart! He knows he can sell them at a higher price since people don't want to deal with agents.

NoT really...after eBay fees and pay pal fees he ended up making no profit or losing money. Short of me Being his us distributor theres no way he can really stay in 'business'
Sorry for the typing, this is coming off an iPad. This thing sucks for typing :/
-
I'd say PEBKAC but technically there is NOTHING between keyboard and computer.
Seeing as my keyboard is at home and iM wasting time at work 20 miles away across baltimore city...there are many, many problems existing between my keyboard and i ;)
This is my first time typing with an iPad...no wonder people don't take notes in class with this thing :p though i think it'd be pretty cool once i get used to it
-
I'm vaguely interested, but there's a chance that I will be in Hong Kong during summer, so I might pass until then.
-
Seller has reposted 5 noppoo cherry blues on ebay. There's 3 left now :-).
-
any idea when noppoos in blues gonna be back?
-
or browns?
-
or browns?
The browns are out across China. My guy (the eBay seller of these keyboards) called the manufacturer up directly, and they said they'll be out of the browns for maybe 3-4 weeks.
I'll start a group buy thread in the Group Buy section when the keyboards are available again. A Group Buy for brown Choc minis, so we can save $$$ on shipping. I'd definitely like to try one out!

He'll throw them back on when he gets em!
I wonder...which Choc Mini should I have my dad bring back from Hong Kong? I like the blues, but I want to try black! Siiigh...decisions decisions!
-
one of each :-).
