Title: Identifying a Ricercar MX SPOS
Post by: jaynoon on Fri, 11 February 2011, 00:42:37
I've become interested in acquiring a Ricercar MX SPOS board. I've seen a number of threads where folks discuss ways to identify them, but I haven't been able to find anything definitive.

Here are the ways I've seen people suggest to ID one:

Scooped F / J keys
Concave bottom row keys
Model # G86-62410EUAGSA

Are any of these reliable or definitive? There are a fair number of people on eBay selling things with generic pictures that look like the right board, but I'm afraid I'll get the impostor.. It's generally easy to get them to send the model#, but detailed pictures, not so much.

Put another way, I'm pretty sure I'm missing something because Dell sells boards that fit this description (concave keys, model #) here: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?sku=A0471542&cs=04&c=us&l=en&dgc=BF&cid=7421&lid=197378&acd=10549103-3087823-

Hmm.. Found this on like, page 20 of the Google search. All of our signatures really make searching impossible.

The label will say "MX SPOS" on it, and will have two model/article numbers:

Model # G86-62410EUAGSA
Article # G80-62410EUADSA

Also the rubber dome versions will have relegendable keycaps that are flush against each other; while the MX version will have releg keycaps that taper normally.

All ricercar SPOS MX are made in the USA and have low serial numbers, below 100.
Other SPOS (non MX) are made in China, for example.

I think they've been found with serial #s up to like 230.
