Title: Modify a Rosewill RK-9000 LED?
Post by: cgoldberg on Mon, 14 February 2011, 16:37:26
I love my Rosewill RK-9000, but damn that blue LED is blindigly bright!
I have an almost identical Filco at work (under bright fluorescents) and never noticed this.  However, my Rosewill in my home lighting is like a laser staring me down.

Is it easy to replace with a dimmer LED?
any have info on changing a Filco/Rosewill LED to a lower power or diff color?

my temporary solution:

I know what you mean, have you tried not staring into its welcoming blue glow?

I'd guinea pig this, but I don't have a soldiering iron or a multimeter right now. Also don't feel like voiding the warranty, yet. The dimmer LEDs will most likely require a resistor to account for the change in voltage. Then again I'm not an electrical engineer.

ripster,
what color sharpie should I try on a blue LED to dim it.  just blue?

maybe I can use a fine point sharpie and not even have to open the case?
