Title: Yet another "Help me choose mechanical KB" thread
Post by: What is X? on Tue, 15 February 2011, 00:58:16
So yeah, I live in Australia and I've pretty much given up hope of finding a second hand one. Pretty much the only option i know of now is to get a keyboard off Taobao/PChome/Armygroup or whatever they're called.

Requirements:
Cherry MX Blue/brown (i think i would like blues)
As cheap as possible. Seriously, i know most of you think $100+ is good for a filco or whatever, but I just can't afford it. Sorry, just not interested.

That's it. I would prefer a numpad, but i kind of like the idea of a compact little keyboard even though i probably wouldn't move it around.

NKRO - sure, but not a requirement.

Regarding buying from one of those chinese websites, is it necessary to use an agent or something? What exactly is the protocol?

So any suggestions? Basically i want the cheapest Cherry MX Blue keyboard out there.

Thanks!

He's in Au...is there a reseller for the Rosewill there?

I'd say go for the Noppoo Choc Mini. It's got everything you want and it looks like it's great quality.

It'll cost you around $100 shipped (USD)

This is a good idea. But if you want a bit better keyboard and smaller form factor, here's a link to Taobao:

Ducky 1008, available in English layout, available in all switch choices (blue, black, brown), under $100 shipped ($85 IIRC), nice keycap if you choose PBT lasered infill for a few bucks more, has a numpad, has NKRO...

build quality isn't as good as Filco though, but I think that is expected...

You can't get them cheaper than the original Cherry G80-3000. If you can live with flexable cases and 2KRO, this is your board.

It depends on what model and where you are getting them from.  In Germany, they might be cheap, but in other areas, they are more than Filcos, Leopolds, et. al.

Why do you think they're lying?

100 Japanese yen = 0.7399 British pounds sterling
100 Japanese yen = 0.8828 euros
100 Japanese yen = 1.1930 US dollars
400 Japanese yen = 2.9598 British pounds sterling

You should probably tell google to try yuan instead of yen then :D

400 Chinese yuan = 37.6466 British pounds sterling

The PLU ML-87 is $7 cheaper than the choc mini. Is there anything else cheaper?
