Title: Common and ugly > Rare and classy

I've decided to go back to this:

Instead of this:

For a couple of reasons.

Now, I liked the MX SPOS. I still do. But there are just a couple of things that hold me back. First, there's no NKRO. So when I recently found that binding caps lock to crouch in most games was more comfortable than ctrl, I ran into frequent blocking issues.

Also, the SPOS has only software macros, no hardware macros. Now some people question the need for having your macros stored on the keyboard. I point out that Cherry's software macros always bring up a little message window telling you that you just activated a macro. Which is especially annoying for, say, print screen since the window gets included in the screencap. Using AutoHotKey is a PITA, and Sharp Keys and registry hacking is annoying and limited, especially in regards to three byte keys like numlock and pause/break.

So for now it's back to the old reliable MX8000. It's ugly as sin, it's huge, and the ISO layout enter key drives me nuts. But I think that at core it's a better keyboard than the MX SPOS.

You could always dye it and have the best of both worlds.

Sound reasoning. The caps lock issue you mentioned (I also use the key in FPSs) is one of the main reasons I like NKRO boards. There's always some damn key combination that doesn't work because of that.

I find that interesting, as I always remap caps lock to control, and have never run into blocking issues, even with multi-key chords. Though usually only a single letter, now that I think about it.

I still find it interesting, though.

It's because they're on DeviantART, and DA has a nudie section.

Said nudie section ranging from art, to porn, to jailbait, to "HOLY that hooker has an ugly box. And by ugly box I mean one of those annoying bright-colored USPS priority boxes. Seriously, why can't they just make them brown? Oh, and her vagina is disgusting."

Well at home now and can see the pics in the OP... Now how do I look at this said "nudie section"? Or is is something I might want to avoid?

The kb in the 2nd picture has an enter key that'll make a good contender for the smallest enter key contest.

It lookes to be similar in size to the enter key on my TG3 BL82, maybe even a little smaller.

By the way, the MX browns on my MX8000 feel even more different from my MX SPOS than I remember. There's got to be more to it than just PCB flex. Maybe keycaps? Hm.

The MX 8000 is certainly interesting, with all those extra keys. But I would be even more strongly inclined to avoid an ISO Enter key. (Depending on the construction, a mod to move the Enter key one key width over to the left might not be possible.)
