Disassemble what's possible, immerse in distilled water, then 50:50 distilled water and alcohol, then warm air dry.
I know mechanical switches are involved, and any lubricants present could be washed out, but it's worth a try. It might make you feel better than just pounding his face in...

Lots of things can be saved, electronic or not. The most critical thing is rapid response (especially if this is salt water, which I really doubt it is). Things that are tough to save is sandwiched displays (liquid can get in but sometimes can't get out) and mechanical devices where grease can get washed out by further cleaning.
I would definitely disassemble and take whatever actions are necessary. As I mentioned, with "nothing to lose" total immersion can save a lot of things.

A Cherry MX switch fits in a square hole that is 14.0 mm wide, but the tolerances are small.

Well, the base of the little towers might actually be just right on a rough measure. I'm not so sure the plastic would be strong enough without the metal plate supporting it.
I think we're SOL on the mechanical idea =\ Back to cleaning it. Anyone else have a similar thing happen to their KB?

Not even grooves. Just a slight straight wall with 2 tabs to prevent the slider from going all the way in. If I had a decent camera I'd take better pics. Topre's lookin gooooood.
