Title: Need a key cap source
Post by: Felcom on Fri, 18 February 2011, 08:12:03
Are there any online stores with a focus on selling high quality / novelty key caps? I searched the shopping wikis and it seems like most stores will have just replacement sets for the boards they offer (understandable). Where do you guys turn to get your high quality keycaps?

I have my first Filco Majestouch in the mail, but I think I'll eventually replace the key caps with some higher quality ones when they start to shine over. Are there complete sets (104 keys) of double-shot key caps that are compatible with Filco, or is that a pipedream?

No, Cherry never made a double-shot windoze-key or a 'Bill Gates' Documents' key .
The 'cheapest' way to get doubleshot keycaps is to buy a used Cherry-board from
eBay or some local auction-site .
And no, you won't win the auction if you only expect to spend 1 Credit .

Just for your info, Signature Plastic or even real Cherry Corp doubleshot keys will turn shiny all the same. That is just the way it is. ABS is not that forgiving to daily use.

Of course, while these keys do become shiny all the same, their legend stays in place, which is the main advantage of double shot keys.

If you're looking for replacement keycaps I think you should check out PCHome for a set of ducky keycaps. They're pbt with a dark grayish lettering. Will fit on your filco and cost about $60 shipped to your door from Taiwan.

I have a Archiss/Lepold tenkeyless. Will Filco replacement fit mine? I know that spacebar doesn't fit but I'm looking for something like black on black or white engraved... Help? :D
