Hey geekhack I got my first mechanical keyboard and I have a quick question.
Will the majestouch red escape and lavender WASD keys from elitekeyboards.com fit on the 7G? I was also wondering if there is a place to get blank keys for this board. If there isn't I was planning on buying a leopold when they come out anyway :)

Welcome to geekhack!
Those WASD keys and the red escape will fit perfectly on the Steelseries. The keycap profile is exactly the same on both Filco and Steelseries. You can order blank keys for your keyboard from a few places, but not every key will fit on the 7G since there are some keys, like the Enter and backspace that are different size. One place for blank keys is the Keyboard Company (http://www.keyboardco.com/).

Thanks for the quick response, I'm gonna order the keys tonight. Also I'll probably just wait and get a blank Leopold with blue switches. I wouldn't mind a little bit of diversity in my keyboard collection.

What I meant was I would buy a leopold if/when they come out on elitekeyboards then buy a blank set of Filco keys. They would all fit on it unlike my 7G if I'm not mistaken.

You can try to sand blast your steelseries keys.

The spacebar is different on the Filco and Leopold, but then again the spacebar is already blank so swapping that would be kind of useless anyway.

I might consider sandblasting them but I'll wait to decide till after i get my keys I ordered from elitekeyboards.

Arent the stabilizers for shift/enter/backspace different? I'd like to know since I would totally put my blank das keys on a leopold...
