Title: Ducky 1087 with a KVM
Post by: digitalleftovers on Mon, 21 February 2011, 15:11:20
I'm probably just missing something simple here, but I can't seem to get my Ducky 1087 to work with my KVM.  I know that right Alt + Num Lock turns on scroll lock, but for some reason, pressing num lock again does not have the same effect as just pressing a normal scroll lock key twice.

To clarify, I have a d-link 4 port ps/2 KVM here.  I have the ducky plugged in with an adapter.  This KVM uses "scrl lock + scrl lock + [Number]" to switch computers.

To make things more confusing, I believe that it can work because when mashing right alt and num lock I am able to get a beep out of my KVM, but I can't reproduce the key combination consistently.  I have made it beep by doing it a few times now.

If anyone reads chinese, this was the explanation given over on KBC:

"scrlk变成了numlk 如果要激活scrlk 同样需要alt+numlk 其实alt变成了一个fn"

Which google translates to:

" scrlk into numlk If you also need to activate scrlk alt alt + numlk in fact become a fn"

alt alt + numlk doesn't seem to do anything different from just alt + numlk.  Any ideas?

I thought if I phrased the question differently, it may elicit more interest.

I am wondering if there is a significant different between activating a key like ScrLk (for use with a kvm) with a dedicated function key (fn) or with a modifier key (like Alt).

My concern is that, while software doesn't care what is used as a modifer, hardware does.

If anyone has any insight on this, please post it here.

In case anyone cares, I just hooked up my ducky 1087 and filco to play with aquakeytest.  The key codes for scroll lock between the two boards are identical, yet the filco works with a kvm and the ducky doesn't.  I figured that I would update this in case anyone else wondered.

well. i didn't read what you wrote. sorry tl;dr. however i saw soemthing chinese, and you asked please translate.

the above says, scroll lock turns into number lock, if you want to activate scroll lock, you also need alt + number lock. actually, alt turned into fn

SAY WHAT THE ****!?!!?
