Tomorrow I am picking up either a Logitech G700 or a Razer Mamba for half price. I really don't know which one I should get, any advice is welcome.
Razer Mamba

Logitech G700

I currently use my computer most for Java, Photoshop, and StarCraft2.
Edit - Also, I have a Razer Vespula mouse pad if that matters.
-
I currently use the g700 and it all depends on what you are looking for in a mouse. The G700 has much more extra buttons than the Mamba does.
Also, in my experience, Logitech support is much nicer and helpful than Razer support.
Razer does win in flashy lights and case though.
GL on whichever you decide to purchase.

Well I currently have Razer Mamba and got absolutely no problems with it. It's insanely percise(I also have a razer destructor with it though) and I cant notice any difference in performance between wireless and wired mode. I upgraded from a Logitech MX Revolution and I was amazed on how good this mice is. Also I think Mamba has the most awesome looks by FAR(especially in wireless mode the charging deck/recieving device looks freaking cool) and the software is REALLY nice also(it provides many many many options and configurations which even though u could get with other random software, its nice to have them all in one place). Also has a really long and durable wire and u can get mouse feet replacements from razer if sometime in the future they wear off a bit or get really dirty.
Only bad thing I can think off is that battery life is pretty **** when playing games. I dont know how much time u spend playing SC but I can tell u for sure that after some use, a full battery wont last for more than 5-6 hours of intense gameplay. I got no problem with that though since I'm only using wireless mode for office use.
I would definetly recommend this mouse.

the g700 has more buttons then the g500. same sensor. i find what buttons the g500 does have feel much better. either one is comfortable. logitech support is 100%. razer support sucks. for gaming i'd pick the mamba. if i was doing apps with a lot of macro's etc the extra buttons on the g700 win out. it is not really an apples to apples comparison even though they are both mice of course. not to mention 1/2 off the mamba is a deal. the logitechs are on sale every week at bb. so just get which ever you prefer. i mean in terms of ergonomics.
-
The scroll wheel on the G700 is also much better than the scroll wheel on the Mamba. I'd advice you to pick which ever feels better in your hand.
-
i am not trying to be a jerk but the wheel on the g500 owns the g700.

I got my g700 for $43 =]. If I saw the Mamba at the price, I would probably pick it up as well.
P.S. Another good point about the G700 is the micro receiver, I don't believe the Mamba has a micro receiver but I could be wrong
-
i use ms intellimous for 10 years. now i only use wireless mamba. the scrool wheel and ergonomics feel like ms intellimouse, but slightly better. i prefer this scroll wheel over any logitech ive ever used (only 3 different newer ones)

The Mamba has that ugly ass docking station.
-
The docking station actually looks quite nice when it's plugged in. I like the glow.
I'd say pick up BOTH. Keep the G700, and sell the Mamba on eBay for $120. $55 profit!
-
G700 for sure. Not that the Mamba is a bad mouse, but the logitech's scroll wheel is just better and comes in handy in a lot of daily applications.
Starcraft wise, they are equally bad, get a $30 abyssus for that.

I would pick both up but I don't want to take advantage of my friends discounts.

I like to set my camera spots on the mouse buttons. Currently I have that set on my copperhead. I would prefer both the Mamba or the G700 over the abyssus for Starcraft.
I don't have either of the mice because of the snow here but I think I am dead set on the G700.

No taking advantage of them needed. Buy both, claim you didn't like the Mamba so sold it to an obscure friend neither of them knows

Usually when people buy a wireless mouse, it is to reduce clutter or they do it for portability. The G700 excels in portability due to the micro receiver while the Mamba forces you carry around the docking station (I believe).
You will be very happy with your purchase! =]

I just don't like any excessive bling on my desk.
-
G700 for sure. one of the best mice I've ever used. the mamba (along with many razer products) just feels kinda cheap and plasticy imo. they are comfortable and have nice tracking though
-
what did you end up getting?
-
I didn't get it until today! It was such a long wait. I don't know what took him so long, but I am so happy with this mouse. It fits my hand perfectly and all of the buttons are easy to press.
-
I got the G700

I got the G700
+1 you wont be disappointed

hooray for logitech! best mice ever IMO. :)

g700 has serious tracking issues if used on a 64bit system with setpoint.
the avago laser (g500,g700,g9x) has hardware based acceleration, which logitech have admitted to causing tracking issues during small movements (aiming).
also in an attempt to fix this via setpoint and firmware users found it caused a huge problem with lag on 64bit systems.
logitech will never fix this probem as the team they set aside to deal with the problem apparently "could not re-create the issue".
this is after hundreds of complaints were made by gamers worldwide.
now they decide to delete posts relating to the issue on the support forum and ignore users requests for help/answers.
while continuing to sell the mice as gaming grade!!!
i speak after years of poking them for responses and working with other highly experienced users in an attempt to solve the problem ourselves.
the best you can hope for is to never install setpoint and only have use of 5 of the 11 buttons (g500, not sure how many buttons on the 700), and do without sensitivity control outside the game, or to try accounting for the lag/accel. combo during gameplay.
i'd get a razer anyday, they dont fit my hand so well, but thats easily modded and the tracking on them is simply incredible.
the only issue i had with my copperhead is the pad placement and overhung edges which led to the mouse tilting during sweeps due to pressure on the edges, but the newer designs have a wider more triangular footprint which should solve that issue.

I just bought the G700 from Amazon today. Many people recommend this mouse because it's comfy and you can choose what bettery you want.
I used to have a Mamba but then sold it. Because its bettery sucked. It could only run for about 1 day without the USB cable during gaming. I gotta frequently recharge it. Which is not convenient at all.
