So, that's why they stalled on USB 3 controllers...

Hmm, external GPU? Pci-e in display port out?

Intresting nevertheless... Why can't they decide on one standard to follow?

I dunno, it's more like an extender port. Unless it's as cheap to produce as USB.

I think Thunderbolt is designed to scale up to something like 100Gbps. I'm not sure if that will involve separate versions like USB, if it doesn't, it would be rather excellent.

Same connector port as the mini Display port, and apparently Thunderbolt is compatible with Display Port too.

Makes sense, as DisplayPort also works in daisy chain configurations.

Given that DVI still hasn't managed to replace VGA in flatpanel monitors, I'm not hopeful about DisplayPort taking over the world any time soon.

By sheer luck of the draw, I'm currently using DisplayPort on one of my monitors atm.

Check out this image (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:GAU-8_meets_VW_Type_1.jpg) also for scale ...

Almost looks like the shape was inspired by this one:

Of course it might just have been the requirements WRT manoeuverability, but I'd think old wartime concepts were known among those who came up with the A-10.

DEFINITELY a cash grab according to Engadget  (http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/26/exclusive-apple-dictated-light-peak-creation-to-intel-could-be/)(a most unreliable source).

I wouldn't know, I came to that conclusion all on my own.

More to this aircraft (http://www.luft46.com/junkers/jugap.html) rather than the 162.

My stock needs a bump - it's starting to STALL!!!!  BUY IT!

Steve Jobs idea of course.

You might want to sell that stuff before Steve Jobs keels over and dies. According to the National Enquirer, that could be any week now :P

Speaking of which, the passing of Ken Olsen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Olsen) the other week went largely unmentioned.

I'm pretty sure the market is assuming that.

I, for one, will find it a sad day.  You won't see anybody mourning Ottelini's passing at Intel.

Can't think of anybody else that has changed Technology as much from Apple/Woz, NeXT, Pixar, Apple/Jobs.

Hey, I have that keyboard!

Innovators/forward thinkers/ it's an interesting evolution when the lifetime of work is considered and the overall impact that is felt.

This is an interesting interface.  I will look into it further when (or if) the optical version of this is realized for the mainstream market.
