This is what I have been waiting for, but I don't know if I wanna drop $175 on another board with Reds. If only the Noppoo had reds...
-
If these are only available from Diatec's website, then why has Taobao already listed them (http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=9352675397) anyway?
-
I thought the red was discontinued. Or are the using up the last reserves?
-
why are the reds popular..
the clicky is just it.. cherry mx blue ftw
btw clears are discountuined and red are official now.
but their delivery time had double-quadrupled
-

I wonder why Cherries in general are popular. I started with the most popular of them all (the blue) and I can't stand it.

URL does not work here. Anyway, I would not be surprised. Diatec is known for stuff like this. I think none of their limited editions ever have been very limited. Think Filco White and Italian Red.
-
db_Iodine, take out the "?" at the end of your link and the right product will come up.

Really? Rofl.

Reds came back again this month.

Must be that time of the month!

Accidentally fked the url tags. Should be fixed now.
I might just throw Obook an email and see what the final price would be.
-
Ripster, who is the USA Filco distributor?
Oh yea, there isn't one.
-
Reds came back again this month.
Then it makes sense why they scaled back on the clears...
-
Given their popularity I'm actually tempted to try the Reds, but are they even suitable for a typist?
-
I think KL likes them quite much for typing.

Let me know what their response is, I MIGHT get a white tenkeyless.
-
So there might be ISO-board in forseeable future with reds?
-

I'm trying to pull myself together and reason that I don't need another keyboard. The Realforce (that I'm still waiting on) is going to bite a big hole in my wallet, so I might just let someone else try out if this Filco is worth the higher price tag.

Same here, I just scraped together the ~260€ the new Topre tenkeyless will cost, so someone else can go ahead.

Just wait until I release my doctoral thesis on the TPETJP (Topre Placebo Effect To Justify Purchase). In the meantime compare the honest impressions of those that did not pay anything from the Topre-Keychain Worldtrip to those who paid $300+ for their rubber domes. Quite obvious.
Yeah yeah, one switch is no way to judge a keyboard and I am just a hater.
PS: I am not saying anyone should buy this board, with the broker fees and shipping costs the price will be quite ridiculous.
-
I'd say something about Topres feeling like springy rubber domes but KL would go ballistic.
Classic paralipsis.

I paid more for my Filco than my HHKB. I sold my Filco. Explain.

There goes his Ph.D.

Actua lold. Don't worry though, I got my Guttenberg keyboards ready.
-
I'm glad I got to try the stn numpad and topre keychain. Reds are nice and I may end up liking them more than browns. But I don't see paying that much for authentic reds when you can build GREDS for cheaper and still have the similar effect.
Well, I just like to emphasize that more expensive doesn't equal better.
Even Limited Edition Filcos with black logos.
I made that mistake buying the cream filco.
-

Don't buy one through an agent, grab one off armygroup. $160 and you'll have it in 5 days!

Stuff like that (black Filco logo) sells boards, though. I'd like to try out a red before I buy one. I'm guessing they're just testing the waters with this...like has been previously mentioned this will probably end up in their line up.
On to the subject of Topres...they always seemed to me like glorified rubber domes and because of that I could not justify the expense. I guess I'd just stick with Cherry, true mech boards.

Shouldn't you be using the anti Guttenberg one?
-
I wonder why Cherries in general are popular. I started with the most popular of them all (the blue) and I can't stand it.
I can think of a few reasons:
- The blue Cherry is the one someone coming from the rubber dome world will notice a difference right away. It does not require a lot of force, but still provide a clearly noticeable tactile bump and auditory feedback. Moving from rubber dome keyboards to brown Cherry is not going to produce the same effect. This may explain why most mechanical keyboards manufaturers still in business today choose the blue Cherry.
- The number of people who likes the blue Cherry is quite significant. I happen to like the blue Cherry best. And I do own a Topre. MY G80-3000 cost me about one third what my Topre cost. My Das Model S was free from Metadot.
I'd say something about Topres feeling like springy rubber domes but KL would go ballistic.
LOL. There are times when I asked myself why I paid so much for a keyboard with rubber domes which have a spring inside. I would then switch to another keyboard at home. After about a week or so, I would go back to the Topre and understand why the Topre is not an ordinary rubber dome keyboard. The key feel is entirely different from a regular rubber dome keyboard. That said, i would not say that it's worth the price. I would have preferred it to be priced around the price of a Filco.
-
To go even further offtopic into the Topre stuff:
I once asked an associate of Topre why the Topre keyboards are so expensive. He said a big part of it would be the quality control. Apparently a robot tests every single key on every keyboard that leaves the factory. It does not only check if it works, but also if it has the right resistance and properly springs back into place instantly.
I guess that is why you barely have any bad Topres.
-
Bottom line: Yes they are rubber domes and yes, they are too expensive, but I like 'em and I'm willing to pay the price.
-

They should upgrade the robot to do optical inspection on twisted keys.

600€ Topres here we come!

You are correct sir =)
Ripster - don't get why you're trolling me harder than a drunk prom date lately...kinda lame.
-
the sale will be on Diatec's site? How are we supposed to order one?
-
Interesting news, but I'd be more excited about Clears.

I meant a white tenkeyless with Reds, not Browns or Blacks.

but damm thats expesnive

Seeing red (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onqa6aRHDC4) was a popular song back in my day.
-
I dunno. I'm still trying to figure out how come Filco can be shipping new stuff when everybody said they were dead.
As soon as KL announced Filco dead they started to come out with all these new exciting products. I wish he would have made the announcement sooner.
-

On this page Diatec also says this keyboard has new firmware: "designed for gamers, maximum transmission rate, blah, blah, blah". It is not clear if the new firmware is for the Red Cherry version only or for all new keyboards.

How much do clothes cost in the Matrix?

How much do clothes cost in the Matrix?
The kids these days... they hear Latin for "new" and all they can think of is Matrix...
-
This looks like a pretty sweet keyboard, but too much hassle (and shipping costs) to get a hold of. Will we ever see a cherry red keyboard here in the states?

Here's what KL said in the gh custom keyboard thread:
EK might offer a board with reds. Therefore there's less chance of a conflict by choosing clears.
-
finally. i'm in for 2 probably!
-
I just emailed The Keyboard Company asking if they will carry this item with the US distribution on Amazon, and they will be available!! The email I recieved said that the boards are in the US now, and they are just waiting 1-2 weeks for Amazon inventory/setup w0000t!
-

For Australians, the filco distributor already have the reds on sale and will be shipped out to buyers within the next 1 - 2 days.

Hmm, I'm wondering if I would get one if they became available in the UK via the keyboard company.
I just spent quite a bit on a 55g 87u from Korea (ironically I didn't buy it from EliteKeyboards when I had the chance because I thought it was it was too much to pay for a keyboard).

You can buy them through the keyboard company at amazon soon.
Imso sells titanium keycaps for the spacebar and arrows in the KBC group buy section.
