Title: Switch colours
Post by: Boozebeard on Tue, 01 March 2011, 11:21:32
Ok, So am I right in thinking that the bit under the caps should be the same colour as the switch type? So a on cherry browns it will be brown plastic?

I've had my filco  "brown" for a bout a month now and I just took the space bar off to get some dirt out and it's got a blue switch... I must admit it was clickier than I was expecting but it's my first mechanical so I didn't really question it.

Weird that it's got blues. I thought green was the preferred space bar switch.

Filcos should have the same type of switch on all keys. The practise of putting a heavier switch under the spacebar is primarily a Cherry thing.

Do other keys also have blue switches?

It'd be funny if it turned out he's been using a blue board the entire time.

They are all blue, haha. I'll try and get it replaced. At least I got to try blues. I bet they are out of stock now though.

Wow. Didn't you notice the clickiness of the keyboard before looking under the keycaps?

Like I said. It was clickier than I had expected but this is the first time I've ever used a mechanical keyboard so I didn't really know. It did actually occur to me they could be blues I just never got around to checking, lol.

Yeah it was from a proper retailer so hopefully shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as they have stock...

I'll send them an email now.

Keyboard Company is known to be extremely good in dealing with problems of their customers, so you're likely to get a completely new keyboard (this time with the right switches) shipped to you.

According to the website they don't have stock, so I might have to wait a bit.

Anyway I e-mailed them. Will have to see what they say.

I bet I'll get the brown and then decide I liked the blue better, haha.

Well the invoice still attached to the box it came in says:

Product Description
88 UK Tenkeyless Majestouch NKR Brown Switch

So I definitely ordered the right one :)

Someone, somewhere, is typing on a brown switch board believing it to be blues. Universal balance and all that.

They will send a courier to deliver a correct one and pick up the old when once they are in stock. It's also worth noting it's 20:50 in the UK right now and he's still replying to e-mails. Great customer service :)

What color are the LED lights on your board, green or blue?
