Title: 87u; anywhere which still stocks these?
Post by: Jim66 on Tue, 01 March 2011, 13:12:15
I know it is a bit of a long shot, but does anyone know of any obscure sites which still advertise the 87u for sale?

I'm after a white 87u.

Like I said, long shot but I could swear I saw a thread on here a couple of months ago that listed a Korean site?

Thanks,

Jim.

Yeah, Leopold.

Bunch of others in the WW Geekhack Shopping Wiki, stickied above.

There's a guy offering to do a group buy but they won't be cheap.

Thanks, I hadn't noticed the wiki section before. Useful stuff in there.

Hmmm, they are a little more expensive. Perhaps a little too much to justify right now. Having said that, I am easily seduced by blue LEDs.

Funny you ask... I just clicked purchase on a Realforce 103U-UW White because I'm not hardcore enough to fully enjoy my black 87u.

It's just that I can't find my keys at night :-)

If that 87th key beside the spacebar is not critical, you can still get a White 86U at EliteKeyboards

If LED is your thing, have you looked at the Deck's?

Best backlit boards on the market.

Here's the 82-Key flavor, they also come in standard 105 keys.

You can ajust led intensity:

I can't get over how ugly the Deck key font is...

Haha, the real reason I'm after a 87u/86u is the control location. I much prefer having it by my pinky. I'm currently using an Apple M0116 and I love layout of the control key (and the odd cursor keys).

I literally write all day in word and I make extensive use to the control + short cuts. While the HHBK shares the same control location, it is out of the question as I also use the cursor keys all the time.

I drink to that... And after few beers I got used to it.
It is a bit like an ugly child.

When it's yours and you look at it, it doesn't seam as bad.

Just got a similair request by PM... Here's my answer

I have not decided yet. I'm one of those retarded compulsive buyers/collectors and it is very difficult for me to get rid of a piece. Especially a fine one like a Topre 87U that is no longer available.

I bought it last year for the office. Since I'm travelling a lot, it was at my desk collecting dust. It has been barely used with about 20hours of typing on it. No glossy spots on the space bar. While ordering the 103, I also included a roof for the 87U.

If is decide to make a move... I'll let you know.

Hey btw Keyboardlover seams to be enclined to sell one of his.
