Have you looked into getting some sort of RMA yet? Those Steelseries aren't the most reliable keyboard around.

Did you like the switches on them?

Keyboard Co in the UK ships Filcos around Europe. I don't think they are available in the Portugese layout though.

Many people find the blacks too heavy. You may want to look into something with Brown switches.

You are aware that Steelseries boards use cherry blacks right?  They are linear and actuate at 80g, its alot.

You might prefer a switch thats tactile like cherry browns or clears.

I don't think there is an issue with lag. Probably your monitor sucks.
The usb connertor is just fine.
You should try a spring mod on your SS. I recommend you sixty's custom springs.
Btw the cable is easily replaceable.

No, because it's better...

Browns or reds if you want light feel and don't care about tactility.

Personaly I don't like my 6G either...

Whats your definition of a gaming brand?
A brand with the "cool" gaming factor design?
Then you are greatly mistaken.

Any keyboard with the proper switch type (that suits your fingers for gaming) and with NKRO (or even just 6KRO) can be considered as a gaming keyboard

The gaming "brand" is there just to catch people's attention.

*It would be nice if you could do a bit of research on your own.

"Gaming brand" is just another marketing tool.  I played CS a lot with a filco with black switches and now I'm playing with brown switches and either one is fine.

Just because progamers use them doesnt mean they are the best. Its possible that they use them because theyre sponsored by the company.  Filco isnt a 'gaming keyboard' but I have seen a few korean starcraft 2 progamers use them.

Filco is a good unless you dont want a 'boring' looking keyboard.

Blacks suck.  Regardless of application, they should be last on anyone's list unless they have previously tried them and know they like them.  They are a bad first switch to get if you haven't tried the others.

And their is absolutely nothing inherent to them that makes them better for FPS gaming.

Also, there's nothing special about Steelseries. Their products are fine, but nothing that makes them inherently better than, say, Filco keyboards, Sennheiser headphones, or Logitech mice. It's all about the marketing.

Tbh, I wouldn't rule out non-gaming keyboards.

As someone who spends quite a lot of time playing a variety of different games, I can safely say the requirements for a good keyboard for "gaming" are less stringent than a good keyboard for typing.

Unless you are playing a game which requires two hands on the keyboard (I would say this isn't the case for a vast majority of people who call themselves "gamers") you only require a board to be able to process at most 5 key presses simultaneously. Once you've ruled this feature as something which you do not require (you don't press five keys at once) or ruled out keyboards which do not have this feature, there is very little which will have any effect on playing games.

From what I have seen, switch type is often over-emphasised to people who play games on this site, as people equate playing games to typing. Disregarding switches that cannot be pressed in quick succession (I've heard this is the case with cherry blues) the type of key switch won't have a huge impact on your experience. When playing games people tend to press the key much harder than what is necessary to activate the switch, and as a result people can be less discriminating on how the switch itself feels.

The obvious solution is, try to find a keyboard that you will enjoy typing on and then use that for playing games as well. As long as it doesn't have any of the issues as mentioned above then you won't have any issues playing games either.

Crap, dude.  Buy this, because your zerg rush speeds increase by 20% from a special FPGA processor chip inside that buffers the IO to speed up their tiny little legs:

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-920-002478-Keyboard-K120/dp/B003ELVLKU (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-920-002478-Keyboard-K120/dp/B003ELVLKU)

10 dollars US.  Comes with space-age keys as well, along with high-density rebound system.  For a $150 US premium to me, I will personally outfit this gaming powerhouse with custom graphics, a "tactile feel" WASD cluster, braided EMP-resistant cable, and an official certificate that says your starcraft 2 penis is very large.

Because the only way u can benefit from mechanical switches IMHO, is if u can get used to not pressing the key all the way down, and browns r so light, that u must be really relaxed which is impossible while gaming."

There's nothing wrong with the Steelseries boards... if you're having issues with your particular model, return it and get a replacement. If that one doesn't suit you either, buy a different board.

It seems you're not a fan of the MX Black switch type (I, personally, love them) so you may want to have a look at MX Brown switch keyboards (Zowie Celeritas has a good rep) or MX Blue switches... most likely the MX Brown switch will be the best for you based on what you've said in the last couple of pages.

I'd try to get a Celeritas, or if you don't mind not having the 'gaming' image then go for the quality of a Filco Tenkeyless Tactile.

Seems you just wanted to be spoon fed. So here I decide for you
1. Filco or leopol  mx brown  Whichever available for you
2. Zowie (only come with brown)
3. Das keyboard brown switch version

Or blue switch of above mentioned

Filco & Leopold have same designer, and the Filco line GENERALLY has good, respectable quality. Neither feature media keys or "fancy" stuff.

Zowie is a gaming board. Which, I'm sure, is nice.

Das is a decent brand marred by a lot of bad decisions in the past. Their keyboards also get all smudgy. No media keys.

You really shouldn't speak for others.  It's all personal preference.  I love Black switches for typing and gaming.  It techincally wasn't the first I tried, browns were first, but that was a friend's board.  After him letting me use it for two days I bought a Filco with blacks and love it.

Most enlightened people will agree blacks are the worst of the three common cherry switches, thus, if a person is buying a cherry based keyboard without trying any, browns or blues are a better choice than blacks and will make a user happy a larger portion of the time.  Can't really argue that one. :)

There's a lot of blacks in "gaming" keyboards because of the misconception that they are better for games, which is simply untrue.  Add in marketing, and you have people that are buying crappy cherry blacks because they have drunk the Kool-aid.

Yes, I agree it's a personal preference, and a small minority will actually like blacks better than the other switches, once having tried them all.

However, blacks are still a bad choice most of the time, especially not having tried other switches, and I recommend against them in this scenario.

Now typing on my MX Blues for the first time ever, I can't help but wonder if I'd enjoy Blacks. The Blues' actuation force doesn't feel significant at all and I've been playing with it for about 9 hours now. Of course, I rather like the clickiness and thunkiness, so I doubt I'd "love" the Blacks, but more force wouldn't really be a turn-off for me.

Except for the spacebar. Man, the side of my thumb is starting to hurt :(

Browns would take less force, blacks more, but there's no feedback with blacks, save for bottoming out.  If you have a Best Buy around, check and see if they carry Steelseries or Razer, as they'll probably have one of the models with blacks.  If it's on shelf, you can go ahead and finger it a bit and see how it feels.  If you like, it, you can get one, if not, you can hop on the hate train.

I really do not know what you guys have against Steelseries boards... Cherry blacks have become my switch of choice for gaming... Something about the smooth feel of the blacks are perfect for the FPS games that I play... And I also love the media controls built into it... IDK... But I have to say that I have been extremely satisfied with my 6Gv2 for gaming... But there is no way I would use it for my only board.. When I am not gaming the filco gets slid back out..

Why dont you go read some reviews about keyboards, rather than asking us what is on pictures. There is no "best" keyboard for gaming.. as you can see for yourself on the pictures you posted - everyone uses different keyboard. It is very subjective. Some of them use standard membrane keyboards, some of them mechanicals.

If you are CS player, blacks are the way to go IMO. For any FPS games, i find them very comfortable. I never tried browns for FPS's though, so i cant really compare.
I dont really like blacks for SC2 - thats why i am considering replacing my 6gv2 with blues/browns.

Dont blame Steelseries, if you dont like MX black switch in general. You should have done your research before buying it.
