Anyone buy this keyboard? (Says 43 sold already.) - more importantly, if you bought from this seller did your keyboard come with cherry clears? Thinking about picking up one of these for the clears and doubleshots.
Oh and what was your accepted offer? thanks guys!

I bought one from them, and it came with browns... but there was ONE single clear switch on one of the relegendable keys. Maybe that was a broken key that they refurbished, but I'm not sure.
I did buy it with an offer, but I consider it a professional discourtesy to discuss the specific price in a public forum.
The keyboard was clean and everything works fine... EXCEPT, I somehow destroyed my computer with it... either by hot-swapping it or by installing the Cherry software for it. Not sure which one did it, but my computer now says "Unable to load operating system."
-
Ouch. Thanks for the info.. Hm I got enough brown KB's already, wanted to try out some clears..
-
KL bought one of these and he got it with clears. You have to ask the seller about it.
-
@elbowglue - check out my mini review here (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=14550). He accepted $45 for me, but I contacted ahead of time and requested a keyboard with "white" switches (he doesn't understand "clear"). Great board to strip doubleshots and clear switches from!
-
Ditto! I offered $45 and specified a clean board with white stems.
The seller was nice enough to meet my request.
It's a sweet board, don't let anyone lie to you!
-
Thanks guys!!
-
Definitely worth the $45 I offered as well. I also made sure he confirmed the switch type before I sent the money. The board I got was in great shape, didn't notice any shine on the keys either.
-
I offered $40, and he took it. Asked for Clears as well, hopefully he gets it right!
-
Hmm I just asked him for the white/clear ones and he said that it would not be a problem because all of the ones he has are white/clear switches.
None are browns.
Sending my offer in now.
-
is the space bar of this compatible with Filco's?
-
Nein. Like most (all?) Cherry keyboards, the stem is off-center, so it won't fit.

Ya I know most cherrys have off center stems, was hoping for an exception...
is anyone buying this just for the cherry clears? I could use some of those keycaps!

I just bought one and would be willing to part with the keycaps, most likely.
I am taking the MX Clears and going to put them in something custom along with some 55g titanium springs :D
PM you once I receive the keyboard, or you can contact me.

Ya totally, definitely let me know when you get them.
-
Are things like this just bought for the things you can strip or are they possible to just use?
-
haha, of course you can use them as they are.
we are just harvesting keycaps and switches.
-
They layout and size make it undesirable, especially when my usual keyboard is a Filco tenkeyless.
-
I swap back and forth between an HHKB and Model M daily.
David and Goliath proportions.
I don't mind it haha.
All about the switch feel... yehhh~
But I think this keyboard will be larger than the Model M or pretty close x___x
Takes up a lot of desk real estate.
I just want the MX Clear switches rahhh
-
Yeah, I really want these switches in a tenkeyless form, but I'm not willing to destroy my Filco to do it. Hopefully I can get in on iMav's KBC Poker order and do a solderless swap, since they're both PCB-mounted switches.
-
I was thinking of doing the same thing steeef. Great idea, since it's SUPER easy and you'd have a custom Poker with cherry clears!
-
Yup. HHKB form factor without the Topre premium. Sounds like win-win to me. I might even use the double-shot keys from this board on the Poker too.
-
Whoever is going to harvest these for keycaps/switches if you can be so kind to send me the pcb with the bottom half of the switches like kbl did, I'd appreciate it!

As long as you'd cover shipping, I'd have no qualms with sending mine to you. Might be a while depending on how fast I get my Poker.

we are making so much use out of these old clunkers which are otherwise complete useless to other people, we should be awarded for making the earth a better place.
-
It's all about going GreenHack :D
-
Anyone else get theirs including a musky smell :| ?
-
The guy doesn't ship to Canada. WTF?
-
Just message the seller.
He will ship to Canada.
Just costs a bit more.
I am in Toronto as well.
I offered $40 and it was accepted.

Oh, excellent, I would love a board with Clears, thanks.
-

Sounds like you lucked out on that one. Unfortunately mine was NIB, so no smell included.
One of my Model M's smells like its previous owner smoked like a chimney. Mmm, menthol...
-
just purchased one for $50 shipped from this seller. how long does he take to ship?
-
I ordered mine last tuesday, he sent me a tracking number on wednesday and it said it would get here tomorrow (wednesday). So shipping from him (Chicago) to me (Cali) will take about a week.
-
wow. i was hoping to get it sooner. it was ordered on sunday, so i guess i won't get it until next monday. i'm in cali as well. thanks
-
Bought one of these on Wednesday, requested clears and offered $40, received a board with clears today (Monday). The seller shipped it in a large box with expanding foam holding the board in place, a nice touch. The board is in decent "used" condition, it doesn't look abused but is obviously used from the missing rubber pieces on the bottom and places where stickers were. I'm not sure I really like the feel of the cherry clears, though. They feel quite mushy compared with my AT101W - maybe because I'm so used to bottoming out the linear Alps switches. I haven't plugged the board into a machine yet so I don't know about activation point, but so far I'm a little disappointed. The board itself is about the same physical size as the battleship-sized AT101W, taking up a huge amount of room. The doubleshots are quite nice. Shame about the touchpad and vertical enter key.
-
do all your switches feel "mushy?" i think i read somewhere that these clear switches (or perhaps others as well) wear out and feel mushy over time.
i was hoping to swap these into the poker boards.

anyone else besides lootbag?
sell me your key caps plz.

sent you a PM
-
I had one of these (well, similar...it had USB), and it was only a wee bit deeper than my Model M 1391401, and definitely smaller than my 1397000 (122 key).
-
if anyone is buying this just for the switcdhes and would like to make a little bit of cash back, im looking to buy a set of keys off of one of these boards.
-
Did you guys get ANSI or ISO? I ordered one but don't know how well the keycaps will fit if it's ISO (big enter, etc.).
-
They are faux ISO, ANSI legends with ISO enter key. ANSI one has USB.
-
There is an ANSI version of this board? I've only ever seen ISO.
-
So if the lower half of the switches of this board were soldered onto another board it would become NKRO?
-
I had the USB version in ANSI. Don't recall offhand what the letter codes were, but it was definitely an 8113.
-
So if the lower half of the switches of this board were soldered onto another board it would become NKRO?
Yea, the diodes are built right into the lower half of the switch.
-
sent you a PM
I need the bottom row!
-
So if the lower half of the switches of this board were soldered onto another board it would become NKRO?
No. You would need a new controller to make the board NKRO, along with diodes and new PCB tracing.
-
Why? The switch bottoms have diodes built right in. What am I missing?
Edit: Nvm I got it.
-
I need the bottom row!
You need MOOGLEBLACK from the doubleshot group order!
-

Sixty, would you happen to know the product number for the ANSI 8113? Better yet, does anyone know where to get them?
-

SP double shots are crap, unless I'm buying a novelty set I wouldn't want them.
-
Received mine today.
Shipping took about 4 business days to Toronto.
Musky smell indeed; LOL.
MX Clears feel uh... I need more time to tell.
White on black doubleshots are nicer than I thought!

I'd love to have your more formed opinion on clears. Post back when you can.

I've got the same board. The biggest difference from other switches is the force required. It makes bottoming out hard, which is fine by me. I can type fairly quickly on these, since there's a tactile bump that's pretty noticeable. Sound is about equal to browns. Overall I'd say they're my favorite, but I can see why others don't like them. Coming from blues, the force required to press the keys was something I had to get used to.
-

I go from Topre variable to Buckling Spring on a daily basis, so adjusting to the Clears was easy.
Tend to bottom out on all my keyboards when I type, but the tendency is reduced with MX Clears.
Tactile bump is much more pronounced than Browns and after the bump, it sort of cushions and pushes my fingers back up.
Force required is light before tactile bump, but after, it increases quite a bit.
Hard to describe, but I can somewhat relate it to Topre 55g, definitely not as smooth.
Just bought the keyboard for keycaps and Clear switches... for future modding plans.
I don`t even own a Cherry MX keyboard -___-
I should mention, the build quality is pretty damn cheap.
Light as a feather.
Flexing everywhere.

Basically all Cherry boards are like that. My 3494 flexes a ton, but my 11900 doesn't flex as much.
My 8113 came in a few days ago, but I Just got in last night so I haven't had time to tinker with the board yet.
So if you need a new controller board and tracing to make a board NKRO, what are people using the bottoms of these switches for?
-
Thanks for the response. I use MX Browns about 90% of the time and a modified Fukka board for the rest.
Clears appeal to me as a higher weight Brown.
-
If anyone is interested.
I think I will sell mine.

Then what am I supposed to do with everything else -___-
-
Well I got one of these KB's from Ynih (thanks man) with cherry clears.
I love the doubleshots (They are going onto my noopoo keyboard) but the cherry clears I can live without. Tactile point is difficult to feel since it's so gradual, and heavy springs aren't for me.
-
Mine arrived to my house in AL but I'm currently in CN. Had someone confirm for me that it is clears with doubleshot keys, just like I asked. In the pic they sent there was some cat hair around the switch though. :fear:
-
Is anyone willing to part with their grey space bar key switch? I'm swapping the clears from this keyboard into two separate tenkeyless boards, but I'm short a grey switch.
-
Use one of the extra clears for the space bar instead, if you have enough. It feels much better.
-

You could transfer the switches to a board with a metal plate.
-

I like a tactile space bar too:tea:
-
Yea so far clear is the best switch I've tried on the space bar IMO =)
-
Lootbag, you said that you're in Canada? How much did you pay for shipping?
Hmph, all you guys want to try Clears, I can't wait to get my hands on some browns! Hope the seller actually has some boards with browns.
-
I originally have been using a dell AT101W, however with the transition to these clear switches i don't find the tactile and clickiness of the board that nice. I dont mind i but it does take more force for me to depress the keys.
You dont need to bottom out to activate the switches like the black alps due but i find the key travel to exhibit a bit of a frictiony/ squishy feel as i depress key. It was not what i expected, not a clean somewhat linear feel with a tactile bump.
Hope this helps those who are on the fence purchasing this.
Anyways i ended up messing up my keycaps so i am selling the switches and keycaps (the ones that are not messed up that is).
-

I found that lubing the key switches greatly reduces the friction / scratchiness of the keys, but that can be a lot of effort as it requires opening all key switches.

I heard that also but since i had a mishap with the keycaps. I sold my board already, went back to my Dell at101w.

Have you applied stickers to prevent the switch from dust?
-
No, I'm hoping that dust doesn't become a problem. I used a dry lube, which in my limited understanding does not attract dust. But time will tell.
-
Which part of the switch have you lubed?
-
I brushed lube onto the "bump" part of the key stems (the part that rubs against and displaces the metal switch plate). I also lubed the springs entirely, since I read somewhere that it was sometimes done, but not sure how much of a difference lubing the springs made.
-
So when people are getting this for the doubleshots, what about things like the enter key? It looks like an iso enter key, so its not like you can put it on whatever board the rest of the keycaps are going onto.
-
You typically need to buy two donor boards to get most of the set. Check out the Anti-Otaku thread for more info.
-
In regarding to the seller linked in the OP, he said the boards are cleaned before shipping. But mine didn't come cleaned, it had some baked on finger mush on home row. But as i dissected the board itself it was filled with dust bunnies. So buyers do expect to do some cleaning. The PCB can get sticky due to it is exposed from the small gaps in between the keycaps.
