Title: Tenkeyless MX Brown or Topre NKRO
Post by: Bilbin on Wed, 09 March 2011, 07:07:03
The title basically says it all.
Looking for a decent condition tenkeyless mechanical keyboard <$100 for a brown, <$150 for a topre. (you pay shipping)

I know I'm being pretty cheap, it can be missing keys if it doesn't affect it while typing/gaming.

It will be my first mech keyboard :)
Shipping to Australia.

Understatement, you're hoping for a miracle.

If all the F key switchs and arrow row (home, insert, scroll lock etc) were removed I'd still buy it.

Miracles do happen my friends :)

Afaik the Topre is only 6kro plus modifiers.

Topre is 6KRO.  Makes me love Topre even more.

I hate over-engineering.  But the DIP switches GOTTA GO!

What's wrong with them?

Ripster, N is N. Please learn that today!

What it is, is a fact.

Whether it's useful, is an opinion.

The Windows bug does NOT affect true NKRO-over-USB.

That's sidestepping, and you know it.

Of course for this discussion N is limited to the number of keys (or for discussing the protocol, the number of key codes).

The maximum number of USB devices is irrelevant. Using extra devices is one way to exceed 6KRO, but there are others. It's only the extra devices approach that still suffers from the Windows bug, afaik.

It's not an if at all, I've tried a bunch of methods in my adapter code. And posted about it, but I think it went over your head.

As for Reality, the reality is that the problem involves a limited set. No bite.

26KRO - PERFECT - it's the USB over Windows limit before you get nasty ghosting and other anomalies. (http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2360040,00.asp)

I nearly didn't notice you'd added that incorrect assumption.

Good point.  I think you can get nasty ghosting over USB for all keyboards at the 12kro point.

I'd bother to give the link but my 10 fingers are kinda busy right now.  Reality calls.

Wrong again.

I'd bother to explain it all again, but you're just trolling.

In your Reality, PS/2 isn't NKRO either. Better delete the Wiki.

The NKRO definition in the Wiki just proves you've been trolling here, and that's why this off-topic segment has gone on so long.
I'll add something, somewhere, sometime about different USB implementations etc.
