Naming convention:
If you invent a new kit, please find a good Order-ID-name. It should not interfere with current names and thould not be too long, but must be at least 5 chars long. If you introduce kits with more than one color, name them with the color following the title!
is this possible to get it in 1.0 size , i mean does anybody wants a normal one size linux key ?
This version would look much better:Sure it looks better on a white background, but we can't have that here because it's meant to be printed on a grey key. Just try to reverse black and white again and see how it looks then.
Reversed B&W Tux image
However, the Gnome foot is perfect and both SVG-s are technically OK.

I wish you could see Tux's arm, wing? Its hard to see em in the pics.
I kinda like the white-on-black and the feet being seperated from the body. Anyway, here is another iteration:Show Image(http://geekhack.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=16316&d=1300795242)
TuxKey4.svg is the best so far.
Is there any way we could get them not in 1.25 size, but 1.0? I have a POS kb I'd use it on. I'd order 8.
So if i order the linux key i'm getting the tuxkey4.svg right?
OK!What row are they supposed to go on? I don't know if he can use 8 Escape keys...

TUX 8
Hi folks!
I got a response from SP that the following SGV-files need to be modified to meet production requirements:
TUXKEY4.svg (http://geekhack.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=16487&stc=1&d=1301511633): feet must be 0.020" away from the body (currently only 0.010") which is 0.25mm instead of the required 0.5mm!
lotus.svg (http://geekhack.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=16488&stc=1&d=1301512068): leaves are too close to each other. The closest distances between them must be 0.5mm.
I am confused, from the SVG guide it says:
"gaps between lines must be at least 0.5mm"
"all lines must be at least 0.2mm thick"
In the linux key, the white space is what is considered the lines. As a result, the space between the body and feet should follow the "at least 0.2mm thick" rule, which it does.
I did notice in the SVG, that the white part is white, and the background is transparent. In the instructions, it says it says the shapes (lines) should be black and the background transparent. Maybe this caused the confusion?
I'm also confused.
I asked for a clarification...
...
I just looked a bit closer. I found some lines to be around 0.17mm .
Is it possible to make them around 0.35 mm?
I increased the gaps between the feet and the body. Is that where you found the 0.17mm gap?
I also changed the shapes (lines) to black instead of white.
How about these? I widened the left outline and removed the fine points from the eyes. TuxKey7 has reduced eyeballs in case eyeballs on TuxKey6 are too narrow.
I'm not sure what to do about your comment on the bottom edge. On my system the circle is not cut off. Can you explain the problem in more detail?
I think itb is OK for the 1.25 units key. But is has to be smaller blown on a 1 units key:Show Image(http://geekhack.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=16506&stc=1&d=1301598975)
If the eyes are any wider, the spacing between the eyes and distance from the side of the head will be greater than 0.5mm
If the eyes are any wider, the spacing between the eyes and distance from the side of the head will be greater than 0.5mm.
Did you ever here from SP about if they were mistaken in the spacing? Ie reversing what was a line and what was transparent that results in the spacing requirement being 0.5mm for the gap between the feet and body.
Also, I too don't see the cutoff circle at the bottom.
Ok, I increased the size of TuxKey4 so the head and feet are touching the edges of the circle. Is this what you wanted?
What about a white on black version ?
a white tux on black key (i ordered two)
Yes, plus a versioon where the distances of feet and head to the circle are around 0.25mm!Ok, this is TuxKey4 with tux blown up so his head and feet are around 0.25mm from the edge of the circle. Any changes needed?
I'm nerves killing you!
Sorry for that.
I think the version 9 is suitable for dopuble shot, except for the bottom area between the legs. The height must be around 0.5mm (currently only 0.4mm)
All other sections are OK.
You could even make the gape between body and feet a bit closer (0.25mm) when you blow the tux up within the circle, such that it is 0.25mm away from the circle (feet and head).
The only thinbg I don't like are the eyes, I love the version 4 eyes best!
PS: when we finished this, it will be the best tux key ever!
I went back to the SVG keycap howto instructions and tried getting all the measurements right. The eyes are hard to get right, because the left eye (from our point of view) is too close to the side of Tux's head. So I gave Tux some goggles so he wouldn't look like one eye was cut off. When shrunk down to the size of a key cap, the problem will be less noticeable.
I prefer the stoned look versus the cross eyed look!

Our's will be the best ever Tux key of all times in the whole universe!
OK, I've taken TuxKey9.svg and pulled the eyes from TuxKey4.svg, then put it in a circle so that the gap between his feet and head and the edge of the circle is 0.25mm.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
Here is my version of TuxKey9 with TuxKey4 eyes:Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/UvY9R.png)
I am not going to have any time to do more edits for the next couple of days.
My favorite version is TuxKey9-1, I have played with head size, eye size and tons of other proportions and this I think is the best solution. It looks a little cross-eyed, but I printed this version out at actual size and you don't notice it.
Also, TuxKey4 is my favorite if we are just talking about a 1.25 width key.
Don't give up right now!
You are so close to the final solution!!!
Just the eyes from version 4 and we are done!!!!PLEASE!!!
Done!Yay!
Yay!
Will this be used for the 1.0 key, 1.25 key, or both?
Stoner Tux FTW!
I'm just saying bigger eyes would be better.
Oh you guys. Innocently prancing around, thinking round 3 will ever end.
wuzle.
i like the LINUXGHOST too. especially if it was in a black circle on a white or yellow key.
i'd get some if available in round 4.
The problem with putting it in a circle is that you have to make the head bigger and the eyes smaller like the current version (7bit's version above). ie, for doubleshots, the key part (black in LINUXGHOST) must be at least 0.5mm, and the doubleshot part (white in LINUXGHOST) must be 0.2mm. So with LINUXGHOST it works out better because you are using the smaller dimension for a lot of the intricate parts of the shape. When you put it in a circle, this is reversed and you lose some of the detail.
There will be a tux on a white key in Round 4. And if you like, the ghost tux as well ...

Perfect, except that the black body parts left and right end way ahead of the feet. Don't know why they could not be closer, but at least they did them like in the graphics we've submitted. Also, no quality issues like with the Awesome face.

Just nitpicking: you can't see it in the pictures but the white parts of the LINUX key have some very minor shrinking. This in turn results in what appears to be a scratch on the surface.
I haven't got a decent camera a the moment so any pictures I take don't show this little detail, but you can spot it when light falls sideways on the key. You just might want to take care next time you design a key with a large surface of infill as I think it is the double-shot process and not SP's fault.
