Title: So I just got a BlackWidow to try out Blue Cherries...
Post by: Moneyless on Sun, 13 March 2011, 16:19:52
...and now there's a $90 hole in my wallet ($79.99 plus 13% tax... Hate taxes).

On the other hand, I think I like the clickiness of the blues, but some keys seem to feel slightly harder to press than others. Not sure if this is an issue with the BlackWidow or if I'm just crazy (or not used to them yet) or what, but it feels a little weird to be completely honest. Maybe my fingers have simply been babied by my Filco Tenkeyless' Browns for too long.

Another thing is that the shiny plastic is really annoying.

Anyway I think I like Cherry Blues, I was thinking of getting a Choc Mini or a KBC Poker... Might get them with blues now; not sure.

The "bad 80's sci-fi movie" font is also sorta meh, but what can you do. The BlackWidow seems pretty well made and is actually fairly heavy, but my Filco Tenkeyless is definitely better on the build quality front.

P.S. Sorry for the craptacular cellphone pics.

Tax could be worse, 25% instead of 13%.

taxes are good

Police, health, army, economy, education, roads etc. are made of taxes

Only stupid or selfish people really hate taxes. Others only have a motto.

I know, I know... I know why we have taxes, I just don't like paying them.

How about people who hate the amount of taxes? I think you will find that majority doesn't hate taxes as such, just the amount they have to pay. And most of that hate comes from detailed knowledge of just how grossly inefficient, wasteful and outright thievish the government is.

It is good to know that the living standars in France are quite good.
Well in Hungary more than 82% of the yearly government expenditure is consist of paying off debt to the private bank maffia.

13%, hmmm sounds like Canadian taxes. The tax rate I used to have was 15% before I left Toronto. Heard they drop it by a little notch sometime after.

Yep, I live in Canada. Toronto as well to be exact. Where do you live now?

It used to be 15%, but the federal tax was dropped 2% over two years before the provincial and federal taxes got "harmonized" into one single "harmonized sales tax," or HST. Which means some things that used to only be charged provincial tax are now effectively charged federal tax as well, and vice versa.

Funny how this turned into a thread about taxes.

23% plus everything else. Living in one of those welfare nations just isn't cheap.

Quality on that baby, how is it?

Like I said in the OP: "The BlackWidow seems pretty well made and is actually fairly heavy, but my Filco Tenkeyless is definitely better on the build quality front."

The BlackWidow is actually fairly heavy, but the shiny plastic and almost rubbery feeling to the keys makes it feel cheaper than it is IMHO. The font on the keycaps looks alright if you're twelve. Also, like previously stated the shinyness of the plastic is a major turnoff, for me anyway. It's a total fingerprint magnet. I'm not usually too much of a clean freak (my Filco Tenkeyless used to be FILTHY until recently), but I'm getting OCD all over this keyboard. They should supply a small microfiber cloth to wipe it with every five minutes.

The braided cable seems well made as far as I can tell and is pretty long. The rubber stress relieving bit that it goes into to then go into the keyboard is sturdy and seems good. Even though I never use them on any keyboard, the feet seem alright and actually lift it a fair bit. OTOH the normal rubber feet on the bottom aren't very big at all -- which actually isn't an issue since the sheer weight of this keyboard means it hardly moves unless that's what you're actually trying to accomplish. Also, about the keys again (actually the switches) -- apparently uneven key feel is actually Razer's problem. "Cherry picked switches" my ass.

Overall the keyboard is actually well made I'd say, but because of the shiny plastic, the font on the keys and their almost rubbery feel I'd say my first impression is "meh."

More info later, going to the movies. The Adjustment Bureau looks like it'll be a decent movie.

The funny thing is Razer consider those keycaps superior.

What in their products they don't consider superior?

Also game-optimised anti-ghosting matrix? Better than true NKRO?

I tried pressing A, S, D, F, G, H and J at the same time and it wouldn't register. ASDFGH registers fine, though.

I rather enjoyed it. It's a lot more clear than most Philip K. **** stories, too.

So having an army, and by extension war, is a good thing?

How do taxes make an economy?

Subsidies, welfare, pork?

Sure, taxes do pay for some good things, but for some bad things too. It's also a lot easier to spend other people's money.
