Title: POM Caps?
Post by: digitalleftovers on Tue, 15 March 2011, 16:18:38
Out of curiosity, what is the best (cheapest) way to obtains POM key caps?  They would need to be Cherry MX compatible.

My best guess is that I would need to find an old board to harvest them from.  Can anyone offer suggestions for what boards would be most likely to have POM caps?

G80-3000 black casing...

I have one and seriously I don't know if I want POM keycaps, PBT keycaps from Cherry are much better.

Its mostly curiousity.  I wasn't able to find much info about keys specifically, just the material.  Does anyone know of any Grey, beige, or white boards that have them?

They have a slippery feeling to my fingers. And I guess POM is very hard to work with as I see imperpections of the surface where the stems are (can't think of the right word)

AFAIK POM comes in black only. "Original" colored ones will be available some time in the future... distant future......

Yes, you are WRONG+right. Delrin isn't Delvin. Don't make "the Moogle's mistake" and google is your best friend.

Delrin keycaps can still be made in different colors, but AFAIK no keycaps manufacturers make them. Why? Demands.

Ahh... Now I understand. And now that I know more about Devlin, I'm somewhat intrigued.  They might actually fit on a 1087, which has wider key wells than a filco.

Back to POM.  It sounds like my best black cherry G80's?  Any date range I should look for?

Modern ones, or any lasered ones actually. All their black lasered keys are POM. The old ones are double shot ABS.

I'm not a fan of Cherry's black lasered POM caps. Too slippery.
