...keyboard and trackpad. The keyboard works fine (i cleaned it up right away) but the trackpad sticks a bit. It doesn't make the click like it used to and just feels sluggish. Is there a way I can fix this without taking it to Apple?

Take it apart (see ifixit (http://www.ifixit.com/Guide) for instructions), clean the trackpad, rinse well with distilled water, and let it air dry.

First fix: don't have friends that drink Fanta.
Seriously, who drinks Fanta?

Seriously, who drinks Fanta?
That's what I was going to say.
(...but first I said, "What the **** is Fanta?")
I had to research it. It's not in Canada, but there's a Facebook petition to bring it here. (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2954115601)

Don't you wanna?
MHM!

Best thing would be to take it to Apple if you're still under warranty. No sense in risking further damage to the device by cleaning it. You did the best you could :)
