I think some folks would call me crazy for saying so, but I personally find them most similar to cherry reds.

Except for all differences, they are identical... LoL

flyinout Go and have a look at the Wiki

Cherry Switches (http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Cherry+switches+and+boards)

Topre Specs (http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Topre+Realforce+Reference+-+all+things+topre)

MX Red
(http://geekhack.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=11347&stc=1&d=1277344560)

Is the closest to Topre switches
(http://geekhack.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=10478&stc=1&d=1275356653)

But as you can see... They are still different.
On average Topre has an "horizontal" force and the MX Red are the least progressive.

There also this chart... If you like spagetti... The Red is not there but it would be similar to the black but lower (closer to the Topre on average)

so i have a topre and blues.. tried brown and clears before..

I would say it's like the clears/rubber domes as where the tactileness is at the very top...then after the initial push of the key, it has the lightness of browns without a tactile bump.. so maybe like reds

so clears + reds imo.  if that even makes sense =T

That's what you get when you try to fit a square peg in a round hole.

They're different. If you look at the other Cherry switches... They are even more different. So that's why I say RED just like KBL.

If I give you an apple.
Then I ask you which one of the following is closer to it: an orange, a steak and a glass full of sand. What do you respond?

I'm giving you the orange. But you're right... It's no apple.

of the cherry boards, i would say clears.  of everything else, a nice rubber dome

maybe a topre 55g... but clears just take way too much pressure imo to say that's the closest match.. imo of course

tl;dr

30g Topre sorta like MX Red, MX Red is smoother though
45g Topre sorta to MX Brown, Topre is more pronounced at the tactile bump
55g Topre sorta like MX Clear, Topre is more pronounced at the tactile bump

Overall, in the MX Camp, I tend to like the Red, Clear, and Black (dislike the Brown and Blue)
45g is my favourite Topre, but the 30g and 55g rate higher than the Black and Clear for me. MX Red, depends the day, but I like it more than the 30g Topre sometimes.

(Yeah, I've tried all of them)

I would say the Topre is closest to a rubber dome keyboard, but it actuates at the middle of the stroke.

My Realforce 55g isn't like any Cherry switch I've tried.   In other threads I've described it as an "intertia" that isn't there in other boards.  I'm not sure if there is a direct comparison.  I could see how those with variable Realforce boards might feel that they are similar to reds due to smooth and easy key action.  I haven't tried reds, but I have spent many hours on blacks.  If reds are just lightweight blacks - I would have to disagree.  My Realforce has easily felt tactility which isn't there in any of the linear Cherrys (or even the browns).

If clears are like RF 55g, I gotta get me some clears.
