Title: Short, flat Cherry MX key caps?
Post by: Findecanor on Mon, 21 March 2011, 14:17:00
I am on the hunt for a full set of really short Cherry MX-compatible key caps. Colour and print are of no importance. Cheap, lasered ABS keys would be fine.
Preferrably, they should also be quite flat. I have got some relegendable key caps, but they are as high as the highest row on a standard keyboard.

Do short relegendable MX-compatible key caps exist?
My best idea so far has been to collect function row caps from MX-11800's and MX-11900's, because they are as low and flat as the home row, but I would have to go through a few keyboards to get a full set.

Is there a better option?

I have some EXTREMELY short relegendable keycaps, maybe too short for your use. They are made by Cherry theirself and therefore are extremely expensive in small quantities.

I paid over 1 Euro per keycap, lol.

That's less than I paid for the SP caps at least =) $2.40 for the relegendables and slightly less than a dollar for the single width double shots.

Whoa. Those were expensive. I was hoping there would be something cheap. I am not really looking for keycaps to be used as keycaps, but as "platforms" to glue home-made key caps onto.
Making key cap stems to tight tolerances might be too hard to do at home.
