I'd like to get a nice, heavy set of key caps, but there's no reason to make blank double shots, as the whole point of a double shot is to have 2 "shots" of color for lettering, whereas I need only the one color. Is there an alternative?

thick keycaps.

I JUST LULz'd in my pants.

Look up a company called Devlin. A member some time ago got some blanks from them, and they were pretty thick. I don't think they were quite Cherry doubleshot thick, but they were far thicker than the standard fare from Filco, Signature Plastics, et. al.

You can get thick POM blank keycaps from TKC (http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=681) as well.
It would be probably cheaper.
-
Devlin keycaps are nice. We should definitely make a group buy on that.

Do they do double shot keys as well, or just blanks? Because if they make double shots that thick, then why are we always getting stuff from Signature Plastic?
-
They don't do double shots for DCS keys. Also their volume discounts are quite abysmally bad.
-
But they still make doubleshots for other families ?
I'm wondering if those purple ...
-
Hmm, so how much thicker is Cherry doubleshot compared to lasered cherry?
