You know, "keyboard people"?
-
did someone see your collection and call you crazy? lol
what is normal?
normal only applies to the animal kingdom, non developed species imo. For instance 99% of all elephants act the same, aside from the paint elephant that died recently. (and don't count the elephants we subjugate, that's torture!)
-
More normal than all the people lined up to buy iPad2.
-
Are we normal?
We're better. We don't settle for lowest common denominator crap.
-
Lol...just that when I tell people how I'm modding my two keyboards they tend to look at me like

-
sure... i'm turning 30, own a home, wife, one kid and another on the way, dog, 2 cars. lots of bills, enough income to throw a little bit at toys every once and a while.
just eccentric.
We're better. We don't settle for lowest common denominator crap.
it's the whole 'if i'm going to have to spend the $10 20 times, i'd rather just spend it all at once up front and not have to do it 20 times' attitude too. quality over quantity.
unless of course you can afford both.
-
Most everyone has a hobby, passion, etc...more often, they have several.
Totally normal.
-
Ok good. Thanks iMav =)
-
Lol, good point.
-
The guy who thinks he is a Panda might need some professional help.
says the man who takes fetish pictures of lego minifigs.
-
We are normal, I think.
I have taken two keyboards from home to the studio at university.
Before when I had my HHKB, a few passerbys said "whoaaa cool keyboard" and "is that necessary?".
I had a prof say "your such a nerd man".
Then when people saw the 86U, I heard "nice skull thing" and "is that from a commodore?"
They just don't understand :D
-
Let's just say, keyboards are least of my problems.
-
I am on other collecting/enthusiast forums. I see the same mentality here and there, just different types of items that people collect and obsess about.
The makeup of people is also largely the same: noobs, trolls, oldtimers, collectors, mod'ers, the occasional professional, etc ...
-
no more weird than chicks who collect shoes for their differing feel and looks.
-
I'm Abnormal. Normal is way overrated.
-
I found out today that I like cherry blues.
Things are DEFINITELY not normal at GeekHack...
Meanwhile the group 3 doubleshots are expected to ship sometime after the Truly Ergonomic and sometime before the Unicomp SpaceSaver.
-
Other people will not think its normal.
-
anyone with extreme OCD is not "normal," but i am sure we all get things done more efficiently.
-
Ripster: "Just don't be that guy?"
I know... isn't that one of those Microsoft or Logitech "ergonomic" abominations you can probably put a finger through if you try hard.
Now if he was bringing a G80-5000...
-
Abby Normal?
-
You know, "keyboard people"?
Yes, we are normal!
We are sane. The rubberdomies are the mad people, who belong to a mental hospital!
-
Abby Normal?
abnormal :)
As for normal, I don't really know anymore...

My wife says we are a bunch of obsessed geecks and since
it's that time of the month I'm not going to argue with her .. for the next 5 days :)
You know how much anti-wrinkle cream she could buy for the cost of virgin Cherry doubleshot 'plastic-things' as she calls them ?
( The answer is of course 'None' No matter what the price - but since it's that time of the month I wont argue this point with her either .
We do have knives, scissors and other sharp/pointed objects in the house )

I collect Japanese Mecha models and vintage watches, both are utterly useless for any pragmatic use.
At least I can enjoy typing with my 'boardz!
-
Even other friends who are crazy-nerdy in other ways think there's something wrong with me to spend over $100 on a keyboard... But they just don't get it, their loss! :tinfoil3:
-
vut
stop dat.
-
Yesssss!!!!!
Abby Normal!!!
-
I just spent close to 300$ on a Realforce and all I've felt since plugging it in is joy. Better than 300$/week on strippers, no?
-
its the middle of the night, my fan just died and i cant sleep with out a fan, then i post this.... normal???

Panda does not agree!
-
Panda-R is not normal
-
Where are the strippers at?
-
Interesting, I was just posting regarding the contextual and cultural meanings that are or aren't inherent in the word "Otaku" which according to the initial poster in this thread
Why do you people call yourself otaku? - Naruto Forums (http://www.narutoforums.com/showthread.php?t=665695)
has strong associations with serial murderers and rapists in Japan and a strongly negative connotation.
I agree with the post on the last page that calls it a "roller coaster ride" around the world as far as the discussion there goes. But interesting that the topic of niche obsessions is related to this discussion since I just found it when I came to post the other... wonder what that says...
EDIT>>
Do ex-strippers count? If so, right here!

Pics or it didn't happen!
I actually did a billboard for the club I worked in back then (No keyboard on the head, but I could shop one in under my hands) :
And, in response to the title of the thread, thankfully I think we are NOT normal. As much as it pains me to observe the masses flailing in normalcy I can be thankful that I am notably left of center. I am reminded of the end of "Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins" As Chiun, master of Sinanju, responds to being told he is incredible: "No... I am better than that!"
-
Wow, it DID happen! Thanks!
-
LOL- You know I never actually READ the billboard before as this is the only pic I have of it and its kinda grainy - I just noticed it says "Excellent Lunch & Dinner" TOO funny! (Come to think of it, the food WAS pretty good - almost too good when it first opened. Strippers who eat shrimp cocktail and prime rib every day don't stay in stripper shape that way. Eventually it toned down to the upscale burgers and steak fare though)
-
are we humannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
or
are we dancerrrrrrrrrr?
-
300/week on strippers>realforce

Is a keyboard as a means of attracting the opposite sex normal?
-
british humor is awesome - just learned about a show called "doc martin", "absolutely fabulous "and of course, there is hugh laurie for the win. My favorite bit of silliness to date from his days before "House":
-
Is a keyboard as a means of attracting the opposite sex normal?
Dunno bout "normal", but works for me! =]
Definitely beats some of the other crap I've heard like: "That's my car..."(indicates expensive penile substitute)"...when are we going out?"
Best non-effective approach to date though: "You have a beautiful face!...But with an ass like that you don't need one."
Sad, really... I like geeks, but they spook easily. I think most geeks just don't try.
-
I date...a lot. I've found that most of the girls I tend to go out with are either intrigued with the the split Kinesis, or intrigued by me splitting the Kinesis.
I'm good with both.
There are a couple that are like "WTF?"...but I usually know that beforehand and am going out with them for entertainment purposes only. :)
-
"Why do you have more keyboards then you do computers?"
Every time someone walks by my dorm room.
