Has anybody ever tried to put something between the case and PCB to try to reduce the flex on cheap Cherry Boards? I'd like to buy an 8113, but I'm afraid that the keyboard flex'll be way too annoying for me. I like my keyboards to be solid.
I know elbowglue put "a whole bunch of foamy tape" into his 11800, and said it helped a lot, but would this work on a full (and then some) sized board?
I'm also curious as to what other materials can be used, as I DO live in Canada, where a lot of stuff can't be found in store.
Using an expanding foam like Great Stuff doesn't seem ideal to me; wouldn't it just stick to the PCB? How would you apply it? Spray in on the case and quickly put the PCB back on? Spray in between the two without taking the PCB off?

I'm very curious about this too. I'm loving my KL Kustom G80s, so anything to improve them would be awesome!

mod it to tenkeyless and make a custom case of glass!
I have just cut the PCB, now onto the soldering part, next is having the case made...

Possibly by using the back plate from a G81...

But with an 8113, I'm not sure if there's a G81 with the same layout...?

Where the hell would you put the steel rods? How would that reduce flex?
If they touched the PCB couldn't they just short half the stuff on it? O_o

Sometimes mods ARE rods. Like the mods at OCN.

i'm quite skeptical of straight up chopping a pcb and expecting it to still work.

Skeptical? Of course not. It's just that I want to buy a board with Browns, and don't want to be disappointed.

I've currently got my G80-8113 in bits and there is an aweful lot of empty space under the PCBs. The PCBs are held up off the bottom of the case by little plastic pegs and spacers. Epoxy in the steel rods there, or maybe just fill in some of the gaps with bondo.
A note on the spray foam, it does expand after you've sprayed it. If you go that route, it would be best to let it finish expanding and drying, then carve out the excess. It could get messy otherwise.
