[strike]The '6' just died on my tenkeyless, MX Black :(
I pasted that 6 from a text document I rummaged around for.. LOL
This is after I cleaned the keyboard earlier today but only noticed this a few minutes ago. I only popped off most of the alpha keys and gave it a light brushing - didn't even touch the numbers, so I don't think that had anything to do with it.
Unplugged, re-plugged and still doesn't work. 6 works on another keyboard so it doesn't seem to be a weird software glitch. :(
[/strike]
Nevermind.. I just hit it hard and it works again. -_-;
And yes, I'm still posting this because I already typed it out and don't want it going to waste. :D What a weird thing for it to do though. Repeated presses (even hard presses) didn't seem to help, but one good wack and it works. Gotta show it who's boss, I guess.

Hmm, yep, when everything else fails, use more force ;D
Likely something was stuck or something...

are you Gibbs from NCIS?

you might have a cold solder joint on the '6' switch

LOL! Too bad McGee wasn't here, he could've fixed it.

you ever listen to what mcgee says when he's doing tech ****? it's like star trek when they just start making **** up.
the weird part is there basically 100% spot on when it comes to the forensics / autopsy **** but the tech **** is always suspect. but then again that's true for almost any show.

Curious, how "sealed" are the key switch mechanisms? Is it easy for particles to get in, or is it pretty much closed off to the outside? If it acts up again I'll likely just reflow the solder joints.
