What's the difference between the two? Visually, the look pretty identical.
-
The PCB is different. The new FR4 pcb is more resistant to heat.
Also the leds are not that bright, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

New PCB (circuit board) that's perhaps more reliable and/or better able to absorb the impacts of keys, making the keyboard quieter.
If memory serves at least.
-
I hope you don't believe that ****!
-
It's all voodoo unless proven otherwise.
-
As far as the end user is concerned they are pretty much the same. The LEDs aren't as bright and the key caps are the same.
Unless you plan on taking it apart I don't think you'll notice anything beyond that.

The PCB talk is hilarious.
I saw something odd in the NKRO testing but need to do some comparisons with the Gen1s on that.
Still Holtek? Can you see somewhere USB vendor/product id?

Too lazy to open mine, but seems like a bog standard hobby-friendly 0.1" headers.
Can't get any better for modders.

Do not disassemble your personal computer......
That was on tablet #3.

Filco/Leopold/Ducky/Steelseries... are all made in Taiwan.

Lol - pics of a Steelseries PCB. Now THAT'S relevant to the discussion at hand.
The Red LEDs aren't that bright but since I never had a Gen 1 Red LED keyboard I can't confirm that one.
The big difference is if I own it then it is better than yours. I saw something odd in the NKRO testing but need to do some comparisons with the Gen1s on that.
I have a gen 1 and gen 2 with red LEDs. They are much dimmer. The gen 1 board is so bright it looks like the light is dying out on the gen 2 comparatively.
