Might be the rubber dome variant; I don't know, but if it's the Alps variant it's a very low price.

Doesn't the KB-1948 have Alps Type 2 Simplified (XMs)?

Apparently, yes. That was a steal for a Minitouch.

Now, if it was one of the rare Monterey variants...

Yep, 1948's got a PS/2 connector and the 1903's rocking the DIN.
