Title: ? re:Mom's Ibook G4 again... adding RAM ?
Post by: Voixdelion on Thu, 07 April 2011, 00:57:57
Machine Name:        iBook G4
   Machine Model:        PowerBook6,5
   CPU Type:        PowerPC G4  (1.2)
   Number Of CPUs:        1
   CPU Speed:        1.33 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU):        512 KB
   Memory:        256 MB
   Bus Speed:        133 MHz
   Boot ROM Version:        4.8.7f1

Have a laptop module from Samsung and wonder if it will take this:

Label reads:
512MB 2Rx16 PC2-5300-555-12-a3  (looks to be 1/2 of a GB pair, but I think her machine will only accept one module  anyway - still anything will help since she nearly maxes out the 256MB by running Firefox alone)

Anyone know if this will work?

No. You have a DDR2 stick, and G4s take original DDR.

Use the crucial website to identify what you need, then buy it at newegg.

Definitely max that thing out with ram (1.25GB is max I believe...1GB module and 256MB onboard).
