Well, I am sure this new entry will continue to expand as more and more people getting aware of the power of alternative layouts.
I use one handed Dvorak layout for all my web surfing time(leisure purpose). Since I am always googling keywords for information while mousing with the other hand srolling and clicking pages and links, It is in fact not a matter of holding a cup of coffee while typing. It is an ideal division of labour of hands and ergonomic posture to deal with the KB and mouse.
The article did point out some disadvantages of one hand typing on a KB designed for two hands. On the standard Qwerty, reaching AEIOU requires full hand motion over the board and reaching function key is not easy as the HOME position located at the middle of KB. The speed is comparatively slower for single hand mainly due to lack of severe training.
If you have abandoned Qwerty and taken up the alternative layout such as Dvorak and Colemak, please try out the Dvorak one hand layout.
