Title: So I get my first mech keyboard today.
Post by: rich0d on Wed, 13 April 2011, 05:33:57
After much umm'ing and arr'ing about shelling out loads of money on a keyboard, I've bought a Noppoo Choc Mini for £75 BNIB, I was tempted to get a full sized G80-3000 for £50, or a M$ el cheapo crappo for £17. But I prefered something a little smaller as I have so much junk on my desk. I've got a few quick questions regarding mech keyboards though.

Do I need to take any special care when cleaning them? Seen as though they're not like most keyboards which can withstand a bit of water, and they've got metal inside the keys...

For the Choc Mini, what kind of keycaps can I replace them with? If I were to buy say, a set of Filco blanks, would they fit OK, apart from the keys which are obviously different sizes... (WASD\Esc for example)

Replacing the actual keys, is this a hard task, like if I dislike the browns, how difficult would it be to switch them out for something different, like clears, reds, etc. And how hard are different keys to come by?

Also, if I like my new keyboard too much, is there any support groups which I can go to, to provide help because I've become to obsessed with keyboards?

Thanks ;)

any keycaps from a cherry MX board will fit.
