Hi,
this subject has probably come up lots of times but couldn't find it with a search (so excuse me for asking "again").
Anyway, I've recently gotten an old mechanical keyboard at home (Laser with white alps) and loving it. I want to use something similar at work now (anything decent vintage mechanical I'll come across probably) but my new workstation at work does not have a PS/2 port.
I've been googling a bit and have come to understand that only certain kinds of PS/2 -> USB convertors work properly with old keyboards. Heard terms like the "blue box" and such.
Is that the only convertor that will work?

There are two that members here have consistent good luck with. One is the blue cube, the other is the belkin ps2 adapter. Personally, I like the belkin better and have three of them.

I've got a blue cube from clickykeyboards.com. The only keyboard that it has issues with it is my SIIG Minitouch, where it occasionally drops a keystroke.

Cheers for the replies :)
Now I know where to look and what to look for, thanx!

I am lost. Is the blue cubes are the reliable ones that you guys can get or what? I read more blue cubes being recommended than anything else. I'm asking because I am curious.
I have one of these. Cost me all of $3 at my local PC-hardware store. Even works with AT->PS2 | PS2->USB |USB->KVM configuration

EDIT : Nevermind. I just found the Wiki. I feel like an idiot now

Thanx for the welcome ripster! And I must obviously agree about the Dutch women! ;)

A little update,a visit to the mentioned wiki triggered my memory. I was given a convertor a while back by our IT-department and it resembles one of the mentioned models. Will give it a go tomorrow :)

Last update (probably).. the convertor I have at work (looks like the one kaiserreich posted) works like a charm!
Didn't work on windows boot but I switched keyboards after boot and it's rocking :D
To say the least, not ALL my coworkers are pleased ;)
