Title: External Media Player Controllers?

Since most mechanical keyboards don't really have media controls, I was curious if anyone was aware of any sort of remote controls for media players, so if I am doing something like gaming, and the song changes to something that sucks, I could wail on a button and get a better song. I seen one that does pretty much this a while ago, but I don't know if it will interface with my primary media player, XMplay (it uses Winamp plugins, if this helps). The one I found was a knob thing (If you are me and your mind is in the gutter, think: doorknob).

Was that a limited run? That would look way better on my desk then the chrome one. I'm dumb as hell and I don't know what the grey thing on the right is, but I know I want it!

I'm curious: does the Griffin Powermate work with background applications (e.g. the ability to skip or mute tracks in WMP while gaming or browsing full-screen)? If so, then it seems like a very valuable product.

I use my mouse to do all of those things. I've got an MX Revolution, which i assigned the otherwise mostly useless thumb wheel as a media key. Push it forwards, or backwards changes the track in the corresponding direction. Pressing the button in pauses.

I do a similar thing with my G700. I've got the spare thumb buttons set to modifiers I use in conjunction with the scroll wheel.
