Title: realforce 86ub at elite keyboards
Post by: brkim1324 on Sat, 23 April 2011, 02:14:53
Hi I am new here, and don't know much about Topre keyboards.
I am looking to buy Topre Realforce 86UB keyboard.
and I have few questions about it.
1. what's the difference between 86u and 86ub?
2. I see that there are 33,45,55g versions available.
Is this pressure changeable? or r they separate models?
I can't seem to find of choosing options of which model when I check out...
3. and compare with HHKB2 Pro model, which do you think is better?

Thank you :D

1. One is black(UB) and one is white.

2. They are separate models, but some combine different weights. The 86U/86UB weighting is pictured here:

HHKB Pro2 has uniform 45g weighted switches.

3: It depends on your wants/needs.

Oh! Thanks!
and 1 more thing,
I see that 87U has blue lights for Caps lock or Control.
Do you know if 86 one has it too?

I've both an HHKB Pro 2 and a Realforce 87U.

I use the HHKB more, especially since I've been mobile lately. The HHKB, small and compact, is easier to carry around. The layout gets in the way if you need to use complex keyboard shortcuts or the arrow keys, but I tolerate it.

The Realforce is mounted on a metal plate (the HHKB is all plastic), and feels more "substantial"/better when typing on it.

I honestly can't say which is better overall.
