Haha, quoted from the product info page:

"You will never feel stress from fading letters that would make your keyboard crummy."

I'm kinda digging it.

The ninja windows keys look like possible extra keys in the box.  There's a picture where they are shown with a key puller.

Ninja>Otaku

At least in the coolness of the name.

Otaku > ninja

Otaku you don't need any help to touch type, ninja you still need.

Interesting.  I wonder if they will sell these front printed keycaps separately.  Also a truly "Otaku" version would be the opposite of the ninja (with the printed letters on the opposite end). lol

I don't think so. That would be called a stalker version (for the people opposite to observe you).

Only ninjas can see what they are typing while others can't.

Btw, I think keyboard manufacturers have nothing new to innovate - Ninja, seriously?

We should have a Geekhack's Chuck Norris version keyboard out to fight them ninjas. =D

Or a "Samurai" version where each keystroke is a cut to your finger (slogan). lol

If this gets released in sexy white, then i want one.

Question: Why does a keyboard needs to be Windows 7 certified?
Don't all HID come standardized? I wonder how much of that Windows 7 certification crap gets passed on to consumers. Geez

On a side note:

Having a tenkeyless is largely about space savingness and ergonomics. Space saving for obvious reasons and ergonomic because you can have your mouse a little closer to natural arm placement.

It has to do with ergonomics.  It's nice to not have to reach way out to the side for the mouse.   The added desk space is a plus too.  It all really depends on how much you use the number pad, though.  Accountants and 3D Modelers tend to use it quite a bit.

Yes, though it should also be mentioned that with a tenkeyless you can still buy a separate dedicated numpad, and then position that wherever you want (left, right, etc.) or just keep it in a drawer until you actually need it.  I'd argue tenkeyless is all about flexibility.

a few questions:
1) is there any build diference between the majestouch-2 and this? is it the same majestouch-2 with the new caps?
2) Is there a release date? Price point? (i know regular filco tenkeyless' go for like 130-140)

For some odd reasons, I can't go on the first page of this thread because it makes firefox "not responding" and I have to kill the process.
I turned off javascript, images, flash player, nothing works.

I can access the 2nd and 3rd page without a problem though. Anybody knows why*?

This will be very important: a keyboard that can't be used by a non touch typist vampire.

It's a basic feature that every kb should have...

As a left handed mouser tenkeyless is actually inferior as the tenkey section is what I use for FPS games. That said, I primarily play RTS games and the tenkeyless is just more awesome.

Guys I just cant decide. I am thinking it would be nice to have the extra room for the mouse. But somehow I like the look of the full version. I am torn really. What to do.

But having said that I dont really use the keypad all that much. I just type words a lot.

It's the Chinese that get green and blue confused.  The Japanese have a separate word.

Kanji>Simplified Chinese

Its the other way around
The kanji for Green and Blue are the same 青
Thus you have 青森 in Japan with literally means 'green forest', or 青空 which means 'blue Sky'

In Chinese, they are 蓝 for blue and 青 or 绿 which means green.
I think the Chinese just took what the Japanese translated for the Cherry switches and used it as well.

All the italians I know forgo the 2000 Kanji and have 2000 kids instead.  My Italian friends then marry each other and now have literally a birthday party or ballet recital or little league game every single night.  All first cousins.

Anyway.  I think the Ninja will catch on HUGE in China (and maybe other places in Asia) because they love to have something different and exclusive that makes them look leet.  Wait, I do to. :D

Yes I'm Italian and for me even the random spelling used in english is already too much.

Btw our revenge comes with the grammar which is way more complicated than the one used in English and in other languages.

Let's see, I know English, we are required to learn Malay, and I do speak and write Mandarin. And also, I speak the Hokkien or Southern Min Dialect which is similar to the Taiwanese local dialect, and do understand Cantonese. Most ethnic chinese people in my country can do most of these anyway, so it's considered normal that you know the 3 languages and some dialect

I took some beginner Japanese class, so I can read them Hiragana and Katakana but not necessarily understand them.

So thats 3+0.5 languages. And as Chong said, you could probably guess the meaning of the Kanji if you know its meaning in chinese. The pronunciation maybe be totally different, but most of the time, the words carry the same meaning.

Be sure that with such Filco craziness, Chinese will quickly copy the ninja keys in all the rainbow colors, and in a wide variety of fonts.

It's true. It'll be cheaper on Amazon, faster shipping, and you'll have TKC quality behind it. I've been logging onto taobao for the past few days eyeing a white tenkeyless black for the past week and telling myself to just wait for TKC.

Any word out on when this will be available on Amazon?  I've heard other sites saying they will be carrying towards the end of this month but they've mostly been Korean/Vietnamese/Chinese sites so I imagine the shipping would be outrageous.

Because the legends on plain filcos are crap, so the high tech filco guys  invented such incredible technique to keep the legends in place.

It's the wrong place but better than nothing.

Well I guess some like it. I dont mind either but I'm after a US layout tenkeyless with browns and thought I may as well get the gen2 which is only available at the moment in ninja. Ninja...

Saw this last year after making many complaints about the majestouch coating. Actually thought it was a little dorky:-P and discounted the idea as "just working around the problem." I still think it's half-ass despite some cheers to the contrary I see here;)

Still surprised by the coating; I have an original majestouch (from 2007) which seems to have a much more durable coating than anything EK ever shipped, since then I've seen 3 different coatings which I never sorted out. Wonder if it's any better these days:-D

Just caught this thread and I'm loving it already, since I'm considering getting a tenkeyless Brown switch keyboard. I have a Blue switch 104, and realized that I can do without the number pad. The finish on the comma and period buttons are heavily worn already.

Just don't know if I would like the browns. I do want to have a lighter feel and a less subtle click, so it sounds perfect, but I'm still afraid if the click is a little too subtle.

Browns don't have any click. It's basically a very small spot of friction around the actuation point during key travel.

What you are looking for can't be bought.

Browns are almost linear they look basically as a linear switch with some lube problems.

On the other hand clears have the spring too stiff, which is fatiguing and partially mask the more pronounced tactile feedback.

So the only option is called ergo clears (aka beige)
