Title: Removing the backspace key of filco
Post by: Aardwolf on Wed, 04 May 2011, 12:49:53
Hi,

If I try to remove the backspace key of my filco keyboard, it appears the front half of the backspace key is somehow attached to something. I'm unable to remove it in a straightforward way, and don't want to force it so that I don't accidently break it.

What's the correct technique for removing it?

Note, I have no key puller, just a knife or screwdriver.

Thanks!

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but this is the exact reason why I prefer the Cherry style of implementing stabilizer bar. Its almost worry free.

How can I find this article on the wiki? If I click wiki, Other Articles, there's a whole list of articles, none of which contains "removal" in its title. Using the search function searches all forum threads and gives thousands of results...

Thanks!

Hi, try this link ... Cherry MX Key Pulling and Swapping Guide (http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:12649)

Here's a nice video how to change the shift key ...

I have to say that after taking out all the keys and replacing them with blank keys, that the hardest part is removing those pesky white knobs from the keys (Long fingernails helped). Everything else was easy money.

I prefer the Co-star stabilizer as they retains the attributes/feel of the switch whereas the cherry stabilizer change the attributes/feel of the switch.

@raichu a pair of angled tweezer save me lots pain

I did a similar video to the koreans but translate to english

The wiki organization here sucks.

What especially cracks me up are the threads titled "DELETE ME".

I keep reading them as "EAT ME".

A delete button could be very useful on the wiki section or at least for a power user like you, given that this forum is not full of moderators.

Actually MW would have deleted all my wikis by now.

I mean "delete button" for the initial autor (or for an entitled user, whit higher rights than normal)

Thanks for posting this. I was just trying to figure this out to fix a squeaky backspace key and this is probably the best video showing how to remove. Sorry for digging up an old thread :)
