So I have been home a few days: and I have been using my browns more.
What can I say? I sort of saw it coming that I wouldn't be able to part with either.
...Actually, that might not be true. I think if I were to part with one then I would part with the browns over the blues, since the blue are more "special" to click on, and if I really wanted to be quiet I could just use my MBP scissor switches.
But the brown...I guess they can sort of be like...my...keyboard when I am sort of really tired... because while I was clicking on my blues in university I realized that it can get tiring.
Or am I just seriously weaksauce...
Maybe I'll sell both and get a topre or something instead. According to the chart the topres need even LESS force than the browns to actuate...right...?
Opinions, people?
... EDIT: Nah. I don't think I should consider getting an even MORE expensive keyboard.
Must be getting out of my mind. =.=

My advice is stop being a ****, getting tired of typing and start being awesome!
Typed on my feathery light browns. Because I'm too **** for manly switches.
-
I believe those three switches are fun to type on. If you don't feel like you could part with your cherry brown board, I don't think you should trade both of them for a topre board.
Topre boards are nice ot type on but they might not be exaclty like you would expect them to be coming from cherry switches. If all you want are lighter switches, I would say go for cherry red.
-
That's why the blues are number one. Today at work I was switch between my blues and reds just about every hour and now I'm on my browns at home. All I can think when people ask which switch now is...all of them. :/
-
I love all three switches mentioned in the OP. I love them for differenct reasons, as they're different in themselves.
I like the blues for the crispness at times but love the "thock" effect of the browns/topre.
The Topre being a bit more cadillac-like.
If I were forced to pick just one though, it would be Topre. I own all three by the way and think I've hit the happy middle grouping of switches for the money...For me.
-
Yeah, but a Cherry Red is surprisingly different. And this is coming from Dr. RipOmeter Spock.
Sigh - I don't want to ear this. :decision:
Now the guy over my shoulder is tellling me I need Evil MX Red.
-
I do want an MX red board, unfortunately they are not readily available in Canada or my girlfriend would be giving me another speach on how many keyboards I really need and the number of keyboards I can use at one given time and the fact that clothing and shoes are totally different because it's fashion and style and that I spend too much money and that I should be buying her jewelry instead of buying myself nice things and that...
(little does she know I already have at least one board on its way :D)
-
i like my topre
-
I did initially feel weird about my red when I got it. I was still in full on bottom out mode after coming from apple scissors so I didn't really see the point in a super light switch that I bottom out super hard the whole time with zero tactile feedback. At least with my browns I felt SOMETHING if I actuated the switch gently.
I've done a total 180 on this opinion and now have trouble understanding the point of browns over reds. I still like my browns and I think the subtle tactility probably ekes them out a tad over the reds for RTS games but I find the reds WAY more fun to type on, enough that I'd probably recommend them over the browns whole-sale unless you are buying a keyboard for JUST Starcraft and have no intention of typing more than gl hf and gg on it.

@Chobo,
Hey, how was the packing job on those Filcos? I'm trying to decide as to whether I should get them from The Keyboard Co direct or Amazon?
-
if you order from amazon, expect just a few air bags tossed into the box with your keyboard. it's not the best, but I think it's fine.
-
Like Engine said, all are fantastic and each has its own individuality. Close your eyes and pick any one of them. One way or the other, you will own all of them in the end.

Yeah it's a tad loose but nothing to really worry about. The Filcos are in their own box but just tossed in another box with some air bags.
-
Thanks for that added detail. Didn't you order direct from The Keyboard Co too?

@Chobo,

I just got my Filco in today from Amazon, and it's the Majestouch box packed inside a huge box designed for a bunch of hiking sticks or something. Not great, but FedEx didn't bang them around as much as UPS does. This varies from area to area.
It was nice to have two-day delivery free with Amazon Prime, so that's why I selected it. A lot of the times, I don't even buy the best prices because of Amazon Prime.
The Filco box wasn't beat up much at all, you should be fine.

I did. It was much better packaging and obviously they put a lot more care into it. I also paid 160% the price because the American Dollar is sad right now. I honestly should have just waited but I was super impatient and at that time we have no confirmation that they'd be up on Amazon again.
-
Right now, Amazon wants more for their keyboards because there down to one each, ie: $240 for a tenkeyless brown filco 1.
They want two dollars more for their tenkeyless brown "2" over The Keyboard Co's.
What?!
Amazon likes to gouge when they get down to the end of supply.

The Keyboard Co gets their stock in a few weeks. I'm waiting, plus I was leaning that way anyway, as to the fact I had a hunch they'd take better care in packing/shipping anyway.
-
wrong link for amazon, we can't view your kart silly
king topre
-
Lol, sorry. I wasn't trying to show my cart but anyway, here's the link again...Lol.

Oh, and I stand corrected. The Keyboard Co's filco 1 brown is $8 more but that's peanuts. I don't use "Prime" either.
-
fyi that not even amazon itself thats selling that filco for $240. check the seller...often times these sellers try to play the arbitrage game and mark up an item that they dont physically have because they can get it for much cheaper if it happens to sell. seriously, there's a lot of algorithmic pricing going on in the amazon marketplace

+1
I said I would never get a realforce. :frusty:
