It was $2.99 at Value Village.

Not so sure, but the caps look pad printed. They have the "aura" around the legends.
Other than that, they look really solid. Not even Hulk could flex those!
They look MX compatible.

I have no idea what the switch is.

Dont know what switch it is too but it looks Cherry MX compatible as HaveANiceDay already said.
It also looks like the spring under the keycap is the only spring(?), when it pushes the keycap up the switch goes up with it.
Just a speculation.

No idea, but Google tells me Schuyler County NY disposed of one as surplus in 1997.  So it's not even good enough for government work.

http://www.schuylercounty.us/Minutes1997.htm

In a more relevant search return, there's one for sale on e-bay ( http://cgi.ebay.com/Keyboard-BTC-Professional-5339-Vintage-Style-/350359835372 ) that describes the keys as having "white X style plungers or sliders" which isn't very descriptive.

But from what I've seen in my brief time on this board, chances are good that ripster has one in the closet.

Edit:  just found a geekhack post that mentions BTC but the switches sound different and it was made in Taiwan http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?14183-First-post-found-keyboard...

that does not look MX compatible. Edges are too sloped.

I've got one of those in hiding, foil over foam just like Ripster said.  Feels worse than the board I've got with linear green Alps switches. :o

But hey--for only $2.99, and keys that might fit Cherry MX switches, not a bad first outing.  Let the obsession begin.

The keycaps are cherry compatible. I got a btc from 1988 with double shot keycaps and they fits cherry mx switches just fine.

Not meaning to sound like a broken record, but here on the interwebs, keeping image sizes at a moderate level is usually appreciated. Something like 100..200K per image tends to be fine (typically that's what you get with about 1024x768 and a decent JPEG quality setting like 90).

BTC foam and foil jobs are not the very most popular since the feel is kinda meh, but they do sport NKRO, which can be handy in certain applications (e.g. music input).

I'm viewing this page on 45Mb Fiber (Synchronous), but yes, It annoys me too whenever I'm trying to browse from my phone.  I don't blame the OP, some sites auto-resize.  Depending on user input, I think its worth suggesting to iMav that there be a smaller image size cap.

Check for markings to see if it's compatible with AT communication protocol, the older XT protocol is missing bits.  XT/AT switch is good indication, check the label to see what it says too.

i have a btc that i first thought was a mechanical, it has clear mx compatible plungers with a spring, but underneath it turned out to be just rubber domes. very sneaky.
