Hi guys,
I've been spending a lot of time on this site looking into my first mechanical keyboard. I've been struggling to decide between blue or brown switches, and I think I've concluded that I'd be happier with blue. I average around 100 wpm on my MBP and I already love to type (I also play quite a bit of SC2). From what I've read blue switches are just more fun!
But getting to the point, I've also had trouble deciding between Leopolds, Filcos, Das, and many other brands. The Das doesn't come in tenkeyless, the blue Leopolds are out of stock, and Filcos are a little more on the pricey side.
While browsing through more reviews and forum articles, I stumbled upon the KBC Poker group buy thread and noticed that the keyboard was -beautiful-. I could imagine that the lack of a dedicated ESC key taking some time to get used to, but it is the minimalistic mechanical keyboard that I've been searching for. I guess all this back story is just me apologizing for making my first post in the classified subforum :)
So here goes. Then, I noticed that a few people in the group buy thread were wanting to back out of their purchase. If anyone has changed their mind on a KBC with blue switches, I will gladly relieve you of the monetary burden. If not, maybe I'll just have to settle for a KBC w/ brown switches off eBay...

The list on the group buy page indicated that there was only one brown available, so I have not. I'll send him a quick PM now I suppose.
Thanks for the quick response, btw :)

I also had a quick question regarding the KBC Poker. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm on a MBP; is the KBC fully compatible with OS X? More specifically, will I be able to switch the locations of the Alt and Windows keys?

wlcm 2 gh!
you should get reds instead of blues that way you can buy mine =]

Just wait for the people in the group buy to actually receive the keyboard. (Probably next month :P) I'm sure some won't be able to adjust to the layout or have buyers remorse and sell them. I bet you'll see a few pokers for sale here and there.

You can buy it off taobao also, I think they still have blues there and you can use obook or another agent. I think that might be cheaper then ebay.

@noodles
Thanks! I considered red, but I didn't think I'd enjoy the lack of tactility. On that note, why does OCN state that reds are "reported as obsolete?" They seem pretty popular around here. Btw, I have the Razer Orochi and Klipsch S4 (well, S4i), too <3
@calavera
Yeah, I did consider that. I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to see some first reactions on the build quality of the batch. I've gotten a few PMs already, but I may hold off...
@sleuth
I took a look and it seems like the general going price is ~$60 on taobao. It looks like obook charges 10-15%, making it roughly $70 before shipping. Any idea how much shipping to the States (specifically Seattle) would cost? The total couldn't be cheaper than $100, could it? If it was, why have a group buy at all? Why not just individually buy from taobao?

ethics-,
I recommend you take a stab at the poker(vortex w.e) ahk script before purchasing.

It mimics the layout pretty well and should give you an idea on whether or not you stomach the layout. :happy:
Update:
Just noticed you said you have a mac, if possible launch up a windows xp vm and test out the script!
Something tells me these aren't going to fly out of classifieds as fast as the choc did. So I'm sure there would be plenty to go around. The layout can be a problem..

The layout seems very intuitive for me. It's pretty standard, isn't it? I'm currently using a Logotech diNovo Mac and I honestly never really use function keys unless I'm adjusting the volume. I'm sure I could get used to it. Like I mentioned above, I think the Esc is the only thing that I'll need to get accustomed to. Then again, now that I think about it, I can't say I really hit Esc that often, either.
Am I correct in assuming that flipping switch 2 will flip the Windows key and alt key on a OS X?
I'm just so damn eager to pick up a blue mechanical. I'm almost considering just picking up a Filco from Amazon. For what it's worth, I emailed Bruce and be mentioned that Majestouch-2 Tenkeyless Ninja blues will be available in 2-3 months, while Ninja brown/blacks will be available sooner than that.

Sent you a PM ethics.

Crap, missed it :( sold already I see.
Also, does anyone know the expected delivery date of these? Is it still 2-3 weeks from now?
-
Thanks, but no longer looking. Impatience won, and I ended up grabbing a Filco :)

How much are you selling your poker reds for shipped CONUS?
