Like noodles said, just buy them and switch them out for your Filco. That's what I did for my fullsize browns. ^_^

They have Filco 'Ninjas' which is probably the closest to retail otaku for them.

Maybe look into a Das?

I haven't decided if I like the ninja look or not. When you look from the top you can't see any letters which is kindda cool. Very ninja like. Now you see it, now you don't.

Here's Bruce's response to an e-mail I sent him:

"Hi Steven

Thanks for your enquiry.
We don't make any Filco Otaku, we just sell the blank set as a separate item.
We will be making Ninja Blue Switch Majestouch 2 Tenkeyless but they are not in the first batch so it will be 2-3 months,. We decided to go with Browns and Blacks in the first batch.

I hope this help, please let me know if I can do anything.

Best Regards"

Have they actually been available for sale, though? Ever since that listing went up on that site it's always shown "no stock", so I think that is just their early listing.

Just checked and now it's out of stock. I could have sworn I saw 8 in stock earlier today. Maybe I was looking at the wrong one? nah...  :dizzy:

Ah, I still think the blank caps are much cooler. People using alternative layouts would prefer the blank caps, too. Where is the cheapest place to get blank sets for Filco?

So I guess my best options are.

Majestouch 2 Ninja MX Black: http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=847

or

Majestouch 2 MX Red: http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=820

And then getting the 104 set blank keys: http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_d...sp?PRODUCT=639

Ninja is not in stock and the MX Red is $140.

Any opinions on whether or not the Reds are worth the greater price? MX Black vs Red?

Is VAT just for england buyers or U.S. buyers as well?

Might be worth waiting for the ninja or black/red fullsize to come into stock at amazon or some other u.s. retailer.

No US retailers sell the blank 104 Filco key set?

I think VAT is only for England buyers, not the US. So mx reds fullsize to the US is about 155 british pounds which is about $252. Jesus. lol Should be cheaper on amazon.

I have tried blacks from my brother's 6gv2, I like the springiness of the switch. Reds, I hear feel like clouds of boobs, so that's something to consider. I suppose the question is whether you want a lighter switch or a heavy switch.

I bought my 104 Filco blank keys from the classified section. Check there.

I'm waiting to try the tenkeyless Ninja blue. If that doesn't do it for me, I'll swap out the keys with blanks. The price for the blank key set from Keyboard Co is not too much, until you add the shipping. Maybe set up a group buy to defray the shipping cost?

While waiting for the Ninja, I wonder if I should check out the blank Leopold browns for now. Are the Leo keys close enough to the Filco ones that swapping most of the keys (the larger keys probably aren't interchangeable?) won't make two ugly and awkward keyboards?

I know I want blacks or reds after everything I've read. The clicky/tactile thing is pretty gimicky in my opinion as many people think that is what mech keyboards are but I don't find it useful since I will be pushing the keys all the way anyway. Linear is probably overall the best even though lots of people hopped on the MX Blue and Brown bandwagon.

I'll wait for a U.S. retailer to get the ninjas and then I suppose I'll have to wait for a blank set from someone in the U.S. as well. I can't believe there are no U.S. stores that stock these yet.

Have you considered the black-on-black keys (http://global.pchome.com.tw/?mod=item&func=exhibit&IT_NO=DCAD80-A46556862&SR_NO=DCAH24&ROWNO=12&tm=u)? It looks almost as good as the blank ones. Unlike the otaku, if anyone else needs to use your keyboard, he still can, sort of.

Yea but I would prefer completely blank ones. Hopefully someone posts one to the classifieds or on ebay.

Oh for... This thread got me to check Keyboardco's site again only to see more candy in stock. Just as I thought I'd finished giving them my money.

RE the ninja's got this email from Bruce yesterday after I made an order for a TKL with browns

Quote
Hi Alex.

I noticed your order coming in. Many thanks.
Should be about 2 weeks. Ash clouds permitting, we have flown some by Air and the bulk by sea so the Air ones won't be long.

Best Regards
Bruce
