Title: Keyboard Stands
Post by: Gattz on Tue, 24 May 2011, 20:54:26
Do you guys put the stands up on your keyboard? Why or why not? Is this just preference or are there benefits of either one?

I don't put the stands up.  I like my board as flat as possible.

I always put mine up. I never really thought of the reason. But I think because your fingers are closer to the keys when you're typing on the top rows.

I prefer to use the keyboard stands.  I just find it easier to type.

stands all the way up all the time. The angles makes the typing so much better for me.

Up.  But do what feels good.  Unless it's heroin.

Same, but really it's sort of random for me. Sometimes I feel like having the stand up, other times I might want the board flat. Depends on what feels good at the time as I tend to vary my sitting position.

You don't really need stands on a model M. The curve and  height at the back provide enough for me at least.

Flat wouldn't kill me but I always put the feet up. Like people mentioned, it makes the top row easier to reach. Noticeable in typing but especially so in gaming, namely FPS gaming where you're holding down W for long periods of time. It's such a big factor for me I decided to skip the Poker boards b/c they lack feet. I hear they're pretty angled w/o the feet but I think it would still bother me.

I keep it flat because Realforce boards feel better like that.

Up when writing or coding, down when gaming.

Sorry to hear you have to do that yourself.
I hope you wash your hands before returning them to your keyboard.

This is why 6KRO is important.  5 fingers and one ****.  Usually.

That's an interesting variant of the RipOmeter.

Although... did I say "interesting"?

I could forward you some of the emails I get in my spam folder that might help you with that!

And to get back to the topic: I never use the stands of my keyboards because I am sure at least one would break.

Oh, yeah, I meant to add that the stands on any of my keyboards change the sound and feel, so I don't use them.

I don't really know if this matters and how much, but at least I personally think, if the keys are flat, I would like to have it up, but if the keys are sculpted then I guess having it down would be nicer.

It depends on typing posture, the height of the chair and the table.  I let the stand up right now.

Actually what Tony said is probably true. At work I have flat keyboards (they don't have feet) and I'm fine with it. But at home my set up makes it I go mad without feet up.

Down currently, my desk is too high and my chair is too low.
