So, while snooping around SteelSeries' website I found a 6Gv2 Medal of Honor edition in a line of ridiculous MoH products which existing SS products with silly graphics slapped onto them.
The 6Gv2, however, didn't seem to be any different from the non-MoH edition.
What, did they just put "Medal of Honor edition" on the box and left it at that?
Standard 6Gv2 (http://steelseries.com/products/keyboards/steelseries-6gv2)
MoH 6Gv2 (http://steelseries.com/products/games/medal-of-honor/steelseries-6gv2-medal-of-honor-edition)
Or is this just me overlooking something obvious?
I daresay it's about as "wtf?" as Razer's marketing, although in a slightly different way.

Remember, Steelseries, Razer, other gaming peripheral companies have to cater to a different market than the GH community. This market might not be aware of a product unless it's tied to another quantity. Though I bet Steelseries is wishing MOH was a more known quantity than it turned out to be.
-
Weird. I did notice they do not specify that they are using MX Black switches like they do on the standard 6Gv2 page. Or did I miss it somewhere on the MoH version's page?
Edit - I guess they don't specify that on the 7G either, and I'm pretty sure that board also uses MX Black switches. I really can't think of anything else except maybe that board actually comes with a copy of MoH or something. There's also a MoH edition Xai mouse and all I can see that's different about it is the MoH branding/color scheme.

They list 50 million keystroke lifetime so it's mechanical. What's confusing is they say it's tactile in their notes but I'm pretty sure it's MX blacks, Amazon reviewers say it's blacks.

I am aware of this and this is why I'm not really complaining about the other products because they're visually different. They could at least have used the MoH logo on the SteelSeries key or something, just a tiny bit that separated it from the regular 6Gv2. Sure, as long as it says Medal of Honor on the box it'll still sell even if there's nothing on the keyboard, but it still boggles my mind somewhat.

I really hope they will come out with a nordic key layout for this board. Seems well priced and stuff, but what kills me is the french (I think?) enter key that makes the hole layout fubar, atleast for me in Sweden. The * moves down besides the shift key which makes it shorter... I will probably type '''' instead of a capital letter, and press shift + enter instead of making *... :(
they brag about "we design our own keyboard instead of sticking a logo on someone elses" but they can't make layouts for regions... sure that might increase the price but I wouldn't think it would raise it all too much
edit: been trying to find some good keyboard, been looking at razer black widow but seems to have problems with sticky keys and other quality issues. Been typing a bit on this SS one and seems nice, though I dislike layout. Hard to find other lower price ones with the nordic layout it seems. Just overpriced gamer keyboards...

Yeah, I'm sure it's still using Cherry switches I was just hoping maybe they were using the opportunity to put a board out with browns/reds/blues or something.

They do have this 'board with Fin/Swe layout, it's just the bigass enter that makes it different... Nothing "French" about it per se. Can't say I'm a big fan of this arrangement either, for the very reasons you mentioned.

I know they do, but that just changes the lettering on the keys... I red somewhere that it was a key layout from France, but that could of course be wrong. Since the US has a smaller shift-esk key. Anyway, I hope they fix it because I don't want to be forced to adapt because they can't follow the "standard"... :P

The Medal of Honor edition is same as the regular 6gv2.

In one of the recent PC Gamer Magazines They listed the 6Gv2 as being "built on old-school mechanical keys that produce a very distinct 'click' when pressed".
So there is definitely some misinformation going around about it. I have never seen one with anything other than MX Blacks.
-
I can confirm that it's pretty much the same as a regular 6gv2. No MoH is printed on the keyboard at all, just the box. My brother has the MoH edition and MoH was just put on their for advertising.

Misinformation here I think would be not knowing what they're really talking about.
When you're used to rubber domes, typing on blacks is surprisingly light, and they're either
A: Bottoming out so hard they're mistaking the noise from bottoming out for a switch click or
B: Assuming all "old" mechanical switches are clicky, never having tried the keyboard and basing it on hearsay or assumptions.
-
LOL, well thats an epic fail. I thought on the worst case, this version would cost a little more, but would come with a copy of the game included on the box at a discount price or something, but then again, it seems just like the "label" on the box and thats it :P

I think your right on that. Anyone who wouldn't already know what MX Blacks are would take the bottoming out for the "distinct click". They obvioulsy try to take advantage or believe that on the most part their pool of buyers are ignorant when it comes to mechanical switches, or maybe they really just don't know what the hell they are talking about.

Was doing some more random keyboard research, and found this. Was about to create another topic, but did a quick search and found this one.
~Anyway, I was comparing the difference between the MoH version, and the Original, and from what I can tell, there is no difference!
And then my reaction came...

Holy crap, that's hilarious. But you have to hand it to them. They found a way to sucker people out of their money with zero effort.
-
True, true. And it's pretty easy for them since they have other products branded with the "MoH" tag, but at least in those products it resembles part of the game lol.

Not misinformation; just flat out ignorance. Most "big" publications don't even REVIEW the product. They just throw a bunch of words in a blender and call it a review. I absolutely loathe these twits. They have no business being published by anyone writing about anything.
The MoH version does have some differences. Namely in the packaging, bundled software, and firmware load. The firmware for the MoH version has some tweaks as well. You need to crack open SteelSeries Engine's SQLite database to find them. (I also believe there is a Nordic layout version possibly in development. You'll know the file when you find it.)
