Title: I'm not sure I understood what is CLICKY...
Post by: Peleg on Mon, 30 May 2011, 16:29:15
Sure , I tried IBM Model M and i LIKED it, but when I see the reviews on youtube , It's over-noisy.

I like the REACTION when you press the button, what you feel in fingers.
The sound is less important, you hear it anyway in mechanical keyboard, don't u?..
What should I look for then? It is not called clicky I guess?

Very shortly:
- Compact Keyboard (Called tenkeyless I think)
- Not Expensive
- Great REACTION (Called Tactile I Think?)

KBC Poker ? Filco Tenkeyless ? Das Ultimate ? Unicomp SpaceSaver / Customizer ?

HELP :(
I can't afford even 2 keyboards , I need THE ONE who fits me 200%,
I can't buy another one. That's why I'm so picky...

SORRY and THANK YOU.

by the way , I searched for KBC Poker , Filco Tenkeyless - Where Can U buy them?
Didn't found. Only LIMITED in eBay (2 Results @ KBC Poker)

Don't listen to noodles. Go for a tenkeyless Leopold or Filco with cherry blues.

Don't use it for hacking though. That's just...lame.

See the MegaSound Sample roundup here. (http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:6617)

First thing to do is calibrate the sound of the mouse click to what your mouse sounds like.

Any keyboard on YouTube can sound loud if you mike it loud.  Blue Cherries are technically higher pitched but average db level wise.

pre mod and model F best sound!!! rly!!! but your model f sounds different to mine and mine is nib too. mine sounds more like the pre mod sample.

it sounds to me you re bottoming out all the keyboards.

Calibrated the sound , according to your sounds sample and this excellent video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYK03ltDcqM

It seems I like the Brown than the Blue. Blue is too much clicky. Black is too much silent.
Brown is in the middle , and I like it. I can't decide about the red, it seems to be :     Brown , Red , Blue. (in the middle).

Unicomp (Customizer,Spacesaver) and IBMs is too much clicky also (OfCourse).

But on OverClock.net , It says Blue switch is the best switch for TYPING.

I'm not gonna use gaming AT ALL. Brown is good also ?

I didn't

All three are good switches for typing IMO. Tough decision. :\

Blues are definitely the loudest.

i would prefer  browns for typing, less than mx blues or reds, because you have a little mini tiny tacktile bump and so you wont accidentially bottom out like reds .
and browns are lighter than blues to press.

so you could type fast without bottoming out. and if you have fun with a klicky sound go for blues. both are good for typing :D blues and browns, in my opinion.

How about a Leopold with blank caps (http://www.elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,tenkeyless&pid=fc200rtabn)?

Since you said you read the wiki, I'm really surprised you haven't checked elitekeyboards by now.

There is no keyboard fitting someone 100% or 200%. We usually buy 10 or more keyboards to recognize that, but  then we become collectors already.

I recommend a Filco brown. I use it for typing at work.

@OP: What you are describing is 'tactility', 'clicking' is when the switch makes a noise as you actuate it.

Looks like what you need is a tenkeyless leopold or filco with brown switches.
yeah this ***** right here (http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,tenkeyless&pid=fc200rtab)

or, if you don't mind a ten key pad, I'd go with a Cherry G803000 with blues.  (http://www.provantage.com/cherry-electronics-g803000lsceu2~7CHER0K0.htm)

The mx11800 is the perfect "first mechanical".
